Mass Shooting at Orlando Club

Yes. And the shooter killed 49 people and wounded 53 others. There is no doubt who makes me sicker.

I am not questioning who makes you or other posters sicker.
If one person goes out and shoots a gay person because a high ranking official said it was ok because they "reap what they sow," he is as much of a murderer as the Orlando shooter.

A spokesperson for the Lieutenant Governor stated that the tweet was NOT in response to the shootings, but was pre-arranged to be sent out this morning. Apparently he schedules a Bible tweet to be released every Sunday at 7am. What was tweeted this morning was quickly deleted.

Whether is is true or simply backtracking, I have no idea. In either case he's a POS.

Oooops, looks like others have already posted about this tweet being scheduled in advance.

And as dangerous as any terrorist organization when holding a high ranking government position.

Such a sad tragedy for the families and friends involved. I just don't get the hate but I see it hasn't stopped some of your politicians ON BOTH SIDES from using it to their advantage.

Fixed it for ya.

At this point, is anyone really surprised that a) one side will use this to condemn Gun Rights and b) one side will use this to condemn the threat of Muslims in America and abroad?

BUT that hasn't happened has it? You are assuming what he said has to do with what happened in Orlando, but you have no proof of that. What if your assumptions on this thread incite others to take some kind of action?

I have no idea who this guy is and am not defending him. If he uses hate speech than he should be publicly shamed and legal action should be taken if warranted.

Let's please not lose sight of the tragedy that occurred this morning.

The lame backtracking proves one of two things

1) Patrick is the stupidest person in Texas, that when he hit the send button this morning, already knowing the shooting happened, that people would not interpret it the way everybody is
2) He meant exactly what he tweeted and is now coming up with the lamest of excuses.

But just as it appears he excused the shooter's actions, it appears his followers are finding excuses for his.

The whole thing is despicable. 50 dead in the name of hatred by a subhuman and an excuse by a political figure.

He also posted the same quote to Facebook 3 hours after the tweet and both were taken down by 11:00 am, so it wasn't very quick.

I do believe at this time that the tweet and the FB post were pre-scheduled and not a response to the mass murder. I also believe that his staff should be fired for not monitoring his social media feed more closely. Perhaps the lesson learned is not to select Judgy McJudgerson bible verses lest they inadvertently bite you in the butt.

You said the other guy is "just an idiot". No he is not "just" an idiot. He is much more dangerous than that to have this sort of opinion on the massacre of gay people considering his high rank in government.

Anna,

I want to join you in your anger, but where did Patrick say he approved the massacre of gay people? Just point me to those comments. Please tell me you aren't using a bible verse that:

1) may or may not have been intended in response to Orlando
2) may or may not have been intended to be released on Thursday
3) may or may not have been intended for the killer

I just want to know that you have more evidence to speak with so much conviction on Patrick.

I can not fathom the fact that this guy was looked at by FBI for terrorist links, there may or may not be questions about the father's pedigree, and he STILL got a license to carry?? WTH??? Make it tougher for him, for Pete's sake. The PC stuff has to go bye bye. My Chief of Police can deny my LTC for a whim, I think having the FBI give you the hairy eye ball should be pretty clear grounds for denial.

I am no fan of the lieutenant governor. He is a jerk and I agree with him about nothing. However I don't believe for a second that this was purposely sent out in response to the tragedy. I think the overreaction to this is disturbing.

The reaction to the LT Gov's scripture post has it's roots in demonizing many:

Let's not pretend we don't know it, many of us do.

It's actually stunning.

I like to come to this forum as a little respite from the bickering that will only escalate with this coming election -- which candidate is least worst for our country :rolleyes1

Well I think it's time to go back to obsessing over the ADRs I missing out on. :-)
