Masks Optional Starting June 15

I'm so glad we're not going this year. I would not feel comfortable having my young, unvaccinated children around thousands of maskless people. We already moved our trip (originally from August 2020, to April 2021, to August 2021) to August 2022. I feel confident that my kids will be vaccinated and safe to go by that point but not now.
Your children could wear masks then if wouldn’t matter if anyone rise wore them or not

I’m really happy for everyone who is excited to ditch the masks. I would be one of those people except for our trip in 28 days we are bringing our 2.5 yo granddaughter along with our fully vaccinated grown children. I’m not sure we can explain why nana and papa don’t have to wear a mask but she does. Is anyone else worried how that will play out For their families?

Just make your own thoughtful decision on how you want to handle it and have a great time.

I think a lot of families are already dealing with this in daily life. I don’t take my son to indoor places often, but I am going to wear my mask when he’s with me until he is vaccinated. I feel like it’s the kind thing for me to do as a parent. It isn’t his fault that he’s not able to be vaccinated yet (and thus, needs to wear a mask).

They literally can not ask if you are vaccinated or not. So if they intend to keep kids masked, then they are going to have to say "Kids 12 & under are required to wear masks". There is not another way to deal with it if they really expect kids to have masks on.

No, they said you have to wear a mask if you're unvaccinated, and there is literally no way a kid under 12 is vaccinated because they are not allowed to be and this is public knowledge. There is some grey area where maybe a kid might be 12 but there is a world of children up to say 9-10 who are very, very obviously under 12.

I do hope people mostly follow the rules because if nothing else it sets a really bad example for kids to flagrantly lie and disrespect a place/business/anyone by refusing to follow the safety rules.

4 days to cancel? Policy is 45 days on packages, so that is how much warning they should have given people.

I think Disney is being flexible given the circumstances. I don’t have personal experience, but that’s what I’ve noticed from others.

I was able to cancel, we were 13 days out. I dunno about 4 days out but for people with trips within 30/45 days you can call and cancel.

The policy means masks are optional. Stop over analyzing ppl.

This right here is the problem. The policy is not masks are optional. The policy is masks are optional for VACCINATED people. Unfortunately, there are people who feel entitled to flaunt rules (well they can't technically ask, so even though my 6 year old doesn't even look close to 12 it is still OK) and apparently are OK with their kids seeing them do it.

The adults can wear masks while indoors too. In the air conditioning, it's not that bad. While at universal, I was not required to have a mask but I would wear one sometimes indoors.

If Disney chooses not to enforce it is it really a rule?

Considering the rules are different everywhere, kids probably won’t even notice a rule is being broken. Heck even in my own area I can go to one store and not wear a mask and go next door to a small business and they require masks indoors. Some states don’t require masks anywhere for anyone.

Again, Disney isn’t really serious about their own “rule” because it’s not actually a rule. It’s a recommendation. No one will be checking it and no one will be enforcing it. It’s just cute wording to make people feel better.

Having been in Florida at theme parks when these rules were relaxed, I can tell you that the new rule will lead to 90-95% of all kids and families being unmasked on June 15. That's not a statement of good or bad - that's a reality of what the parks will be on June 15, since I doubt Orlando theme parks goers differ that much between the parks...

You think that many kids are up-to-date on the official policy? I know my 3 year doesn’t know what it is. As far as what wdw will do, the policy recently changed to ppl vaccinated didn’t have to wear a mask outdoors & I saw kids of all ages without masks outdoors a few weeks ago. In fact, I don’t recall seeing any kids with masks in common areas outside. I saw no CMs asking about it. The policy change is a cya way of saying masks are optional. If anyone thinks it’ll be anything different than that, then you’re setting yourself up for disappointment in the parks. Wdw isn’t going to police adults & question whether they’re vaccinated, so they’re certainly not going to ask children. It’s done folks. Move on. If you’re comfortable going with most ppl not wearing masks, go, if not, reschedule.

A proud moment. Now I will actually buy photo pass

Looking forward to my trip in a few weeks! I wonder if this includes the cast members finally.

Man that Ohana hate made them drop masks to stop us from talking about it ;]
You do know masks could be off for outdoor photos since April
Haven’t they had problems with scheduling these things in the future. If they think it is a good idea, why is it a good idea starting in 4 days but not today. It doesn’t require me to go buy something so I need them to prepare.
Yes…. They announced the last mask change 10pm the night before and CMs were not happy
Really hope this means they’ll be getting rid of the plexiglass on the rides.
THIS!!!!!!
🤞🏻Plexiglass is removed and preshow has returned to MMRR by 7/22
Where is the science to say that current vaccines don’t work for any new variants? I haven’t heard of any.
I’ve seen multiple places that partially vaccinated have 33% protection from delta while fully vaccinated have 80%

but this is about Disney not vaccine effectiveness so that’s all I will say

I meant the policy means that Disney is done policing masks (except for transportation) so don’t over analyze what the experience in the park will be. The rules has been changed for outdoors & most ppl (like 99% I saw) of all ages were not wearing masks outdoors.

We haven't had masks required here for awhile, kids didn't have to wear in school for last few weeks.
