Masks no longer required outdoors at WDW

We arrive June 25th. I'm hoping by then, masks will be entirely optional and things will pretty much be back to normal. If not, of course, I will comply as I always have, but gosh, that would be so nice! However, just being able to walk around with a drink and Mickey pretzel is a huge improvement. Now for fireworks, please! Oh, and a small thing, but...I want the toppings bars back! I know, first world problems, but I miss those, lol.

I am with you. I would easily be there tomorrow if all restrictions were gone. I also do think most will be gone very very soon. My vote is by july 4th ish at the latest but most likely sooner.

I think we are now in the booking pattern of might be better to wait if you don't want anything looser, vs before when it was don't book if you don't want to wear a mask.



This, under 12 really is a non issue except for the few that have serious underlying medical problems but those aren't planning to go to theme parks anytime soon anyway. And the best part is people can choose what they are comfortable doing.



Mutations don't instantly mean a bad thing, scientifically speaking they tend to be a good thing for us since in time viruses usually mutate to being weaker because its not to their advantage to kill the host. Plus most mutations are meaningless.

Agreed. The virus is mutating because it's trying to survive. Historically when a virus mutates that really is a good thing.

NY removed mask mandates for vaccinated people and dropped the travel quarantine. Positive steps, but would not characterize as “dropped all its mask mandates”.

I wasn't really interested in going to my local amusement park much less WDW or USO wearing a mask. Vegas I was totally fine with. Honestly with Vegas it was the first time (out of the 3 other times I've been there) that I didn't come home blowing black gunk out because of all the cigarette smoke because of the mask wearing and what I assume was a deterrent to even smoking much with the hassle of it. Although it could also be enhanced filtration. It was glorious for that reason because that's really hard on my body.

But honestly I'm more waiting for things to be either added back or advised they are completely discontinued before going back to WDW and USO. The investment is too high for us. Being down there for Irma was way different than now and going to Vegas with limitations was way different too. I'm that way right now. Finding a beach to go to while not having to quarantine for most of the vacation is a bit hard to find. We appreciate the efforts the countries are doing but can't find the cost analysis to be worth it for us to go. Although my husband did see how the updated routes to Hawaii with SWA allows us to get there and back (before the connections didn't work to get back home in one day)..so who knows.

lol I totally almost put that in there that it was fighting words. I used to be more for FP, time has changed that.

It's actually interesting, there's a DISer who moved to my area and then just this past November moved to Orlando and she has much more dislike towards FP than I do and she'll admit it was something she became jaded to over time.

It's going to be the thing to watch out for will it come back, will it be paid, etc at least IMOI. I know there was a lot of talk about a version of MP at WDW back in 2019 (seems soooo long ago haha) and that might have happened had the pandemic not happened. Now I have no idea what they'll do. The longer it stays the way the more I wonder if Disney will just scrap it all together. Though I am not for a paid version.

Once you drop the mandate and don’t require proof of vaccination, you've basically dropped all mask mandates. There’s no way to police that 100%.

Agreed that is what happens in practice…also still masks for all in NY on public transportation, healthcare settings, etc.

No, you have to be a DVC owner and show the blue member card to get any discounts.

Are you sure about DVC? We ate at several Disney restaurants May 1-8 and received DVC discounts. I believe we did get the discount at Topolino's, so be sure to ask.

Some, not all of the AP and DVC discounts are in place. Many of the higher end locations, like Topolinos do not have them right now. Look at them under MDE if you do not believe me. They show no discount link.

Ah ok, yeah I checked before making reservations if where we were going to eat had AP discount.
