Masks at WDW in 2021

The difference is last summer there were very few people in the parks. This summer is going to be much busier with longer lines. I'm hoping they relax the mask policy even further by then to not require them outdoors. We aren't going to WDW, but we have a DVC trip planned for HHI and we will cancel if we have to wear masks outside in July. It's just too hot!

agreed. I'm as cautious and rule abiding as they come during this covid mess, but as a long time floridian, I can assure you that there's nothing more miserable than aug/sept heat and humidity around here - add this year's projected crowds and relaxed capacity to the mix and anyone's patience will be tested. If mask rules are as strict as they are now, it sure wouldn't feel like a vacation to me.

This !!! I am fighting myself, going back and forth in my mind over whether or not to go in July--- Have to admit, the mask issue is a big one--- I am vaccinated, and ready to travel again, but we live in NYC, and the masks get uncomfortable when it hits 60 !!!
DS10 never complains about anything, so he MIGHT be ok, but DD15 is adamant about waiting until there is no outdoor mask requirement--- Due to school issues, we are basically limited to July trips now, and our last two were great (2018 and 2019- had to cancel 2020) --- Long trips with a lot of down/relaxation/pool time-

Going to think some more about it--- setting a cutoff of mid-May to book, because thats when I would have to make our ADRs-

We were hoping to do the same but ultimately booked because I got nervous about park reservations- keep an eye on those park calendars!

I feel for the poor CMs who have to be Mask Police (in addition to keeping the magic alive in the parks.) I've heard reports that enforcement of distancing and masks in the parks is getting harder by the day; I don't even want to know what it will be like in July/August if we're still being told to wear masks - even outdoors- by then!

We're both vaccinated, planning on 10-day November trip, and expect to have to wear masks. People are the problem! We're our own worst enemies in refusing to take the pandemic seriously. Also many are refusing to wear masks or get vaccinated. Then look at India. They just set world record for new infections -- almost over 347,000 in one day. I'm afraid COVID is here to stay and will be problem for years to come.

You can’t compare India to the US. They have only had less then 5% of their population get two shots so far

Not comparing India to US. My point is COVID-19 is a global problem. We can vaccinate here, but variants will develop in other countries like India, Brazil, etc., and will eventually become a problem for us too even if you are vaccinated. We'll likely will have to have booster every year for a while.

I’ve not seen nor heard any science to say that vaccines are not working with the variants and my nephew is a research scientist for infectious disease. I understand we may need boosters like the flu, but I can’t understand the logic of getting a vaccine with over 90% effectiveness (almost 100% in counting protection against severe disease) and still being afraid to go out and live life. I will be vaccinated when we go to Disney so I’m not going to be worried about someone getting closer than six feet to me in line or having their mask under their nose.
