I noticed there is no electric mixer or masher listed in the contents of the villa. Am I right? Should I pack my own masher? We'll be there over Thanksgiving and must have mashed potatoes with our dinner!

There's always

EWWWWWWW!

My DH wouldn't mind since he grew up on the--but I would!

I'm also cooking Thanksgiving dinner in our villa and I finally decided to go with baked potatoes. If you want mashed you'll need to bring your own masher as there are none in the DVC villas.

I have brought my own, and in a pinch, my DH does a "smashing" job with a fork....:goodvibes Takes him a while, but it gets done.

These are about $3 in the refrigerator section-they are pretty good actually and obviously easy. Maybe G Grocer has them?

Our favorite is Diner's Choice. It's ready-made REAL mashed potatoes -- all you have to do is microwave. It is already flavored, so there is nothing to add.

Not sure if they have that brand in Florida. If you find them, please let me know. We'll be there in March and will be looking for them ourselves, since we will be cooking our meals in the villa.

Good luck and enjoy your trip!

Yep, that's was these are as well. And we tried others that are very good as well.

Yep, G Grocer has them. Maybe try some before you go just as a test for $3.

I would have to pack the masher. It won't take up much room. I've tried to sneak in 1/2 real and 1/2 flakes and my DDs catch me everytime! I know the frozen microwave one's won't cut it either. They are mashed potato experts and love them, mine...only mine!:lmao:

Just pack it, won't take much room at all and so worth it!

You may be right-but just so you know though-these are not frozen.

I've got some Honest Earth instant potatoes from Costco. They don't taste like traditional instant brands. Only ingrediants are potato and butter.

I prefer the Simply Potatoes over the Bob Evans ones myself.

Ora Ida has frozen "Steam and Mash" that are really good. Micro in a bag, then mash them up(you could do it with a fork, as they've cut them up into nice fork friendly pieces) add milk and butter.

While the OP is worrying about a masher, I would be wondering about the veg peeler in the villas. Nothing like a dull peeler to make that pile of potatoes look huge.

Just buy redskins and mash with the skin on. Don't know when I last used a peeler for potatoes.

I am ordering the Ora Ida. I don't peal anymore--these are great and too easy! Just need to bring a masher with me. Do you really think the peeler with be dull? Gosh, gotta pack that one too!

I don't even know if there is one at SSR, but my guess if there is one, it's the cheapest one you could buy. I hate to try to cook without my own stuff(William Sonoma, Chef's Catalog geek here!).

I've tried knives in TS(DVC, Marriott, Starwood) and they are so dull.

I am almost positive that there has been an electric hand mixer in the full-kitchen villas, since I have been going - 15 years now. Maybe they removed them and I didn't notice, but I swear they have been in that cabinet above the sink.

We've always just asked for a mixer at OKW, and they've brought one right up.
