Hi! My son has a lacrosse tournament near Baltimore RIGHT before our trip to see Mickey! To make it easier on us, we added a day to our disney trip :lmao:. (Basically so we do not have to drive home then leave immediately for Fl)

What can you tell me about the drive down? We have never been to Baltimore much less driven to Disney from there! We are hoping to be able to leave after the tournament and drive until we get tired then stop for the night. We do not want to make reservations since we do not know what time my son will get done playing.

We want to split it into 2 day trip. We will leave on sometime on Sunday and arrive sometime on Monday at Disney.

Places to stop... Restaurants with playgrounds... parks... anything of interest to you all... things to make the trip interesting. Any tips, etc would be appreciated. I have a 13 year old, 4 year old and a 39 year old to keep happy for this trip.

The drive from MD is about 14 hours or so. You should be able to get to SC/GA in about 8-9 hours or so and that would leave you about a 5 hour trip the next day.

Some of us can do it in less but I won't assume that you drive like me. ;)

You will be enjoying the thrilling and scenic (LOL) I-95 all the way down to Florida. I agree, 14 hours or so - from our house near Annapolis which is only 25 minutes from Baltimore.

You can stop at South of the Border -- although I never have, I always think about it. Don't worry - you can't miss the signs for it.

We usually drive straight through, but if not, we would stop in southern Georgia, then drive the rest of the way the next day.

Not much to see I am afraid, but it is a very easy trip, straight down I-95. The good news it sounds like you will be traveling around DC Sunday afternoon/evening time so you won't have any problems getting around it!

I agree you can plan on stoping somewhere in SC/GA. We try to make Jacksonville because we like to have a short trip the next day to Disney, but that would be pushing it.

Have fun! Bring lots of movies, books on tape and such because there really isn't much to see off the I-95 corridor.

Flat flat and more flat road ... streeetching ahead! :lmao:

Honestly ... it is a tedious drive but a straight shot. I would avoid South of the Border. Stopped there once and it was gross.

Just make sure you avoid rush hour in DC, Richmond and Jacksonville. Other than that you should be ok barring anything unusual. (last trip we hit unusual which is why I am flying this time.)

Bring stuff to do in the car! Stop at Cracker Barrell ... yum!!

Thanks, Everyone!

Any ideas on any places to stop on the way to stretch our legs or let the kids play?

My parents make the trip to Wilmington, NC to see my stepbrother and his family and they take along their dog.

They have to make a few stops, as one can imagine, and said there are some good McD's that have outdoors areas to eat and stretch your legs, as well as a few state maintained rest stops to do the same. They really enjoy the ride.
