Marvel Super Heroes Cafe

I'm so sick of every blog having to have an April Fool's Day item. It's tiring.

Gee, there are an awful lot of Downtown Disney announcements coming out today - the Marvel Superheroes Cafe, the IHOP (International House of Pancakes) moving into the former Mannequins building, and finally the Seed & Mulch development over on Hyperion Wharf.

The sad part - one of those isn't a joke.

Yay! Love IHOP!!

Huh? What? You mean...? Aw, nutz.
;)

who would believe that?

The same people who believe it every other time. ;)

And technically couldn't that work. If i remember correctly Disney can't use marvel in a park east of the mississippi. DTD is not technically a park. It is more a strip mall.

There is a section in the agreement which pertains to restrictions on a Marvel retail development, apparently planned at that time. Without looking the text up again (and I'm certainly not an expert anyway), I don't think it said anything about a restaurant or similar venture, though I have no idea of that means a cafe would or would not be permissible.

From everything I think I understand, it appears there is nothing stopping Disney from using in the Florida parks any Marvel character which Universal either isn't using, or else is using but only in an incidental manner.

Of course, it was only a joke anyway.

And it's not "Marvel" in general anyway, just the specific characters licensed to Universal, right?

Only Universal can use the name Marvel. A character unused or only incidentally used by Universal could be used by Disney or even licensed to someone else, but it could not then be named a Marvel attraction; You could only use the characters' name.

Again, this is all based on my own (completely uneducated) understanding of the agreement

I'm aware it was a joke, but my point was that it would actually be possible. Thats what makes it work so well.

April fools or not, how awesome would it be if the servers and staff were all Marvel characters?

"No Proffessor Xavier, I will not tell you what I want to order. You're the pyschic one, you tell me."

why thank you

my backup was Disney has signed a contract with Starbucks to provide coffee at the parks
