Ok so we all know DIsney owns Marvel but can't use them in their parks while Uni still has them in theirs. I believe until 2015 at the earliest is when there is an option. While UNI does not want to give up the characters Disney can now demand to look at any finacial records of UNI's the relate to Marvel. So IMO over the next 2-3 years Universal will void the contract and retheme this section of the park to Scfi City like Universal in Singapore.

From what I hear this is what the attractions would be rethemed to

Spiderman: Transformers
Hulk: Battle Star Galactica
Dr: Doom: havent heard probaly a generic Rocket theme
Storm FOrce: Generic Flying Saucer theme

What is your opinion if this retheme did happen?

IMO is it would be in UNI"S best interest to do this.

I can't see Marvel Super Hero Island going away from IOA anytime in the near future. Universal is making money on those characters and there is no reason to turn them over. I DO think a retheme will happen evenually because Disney must approve any upgrades to current attractions and no new attractions can be started w/o Disney approval...I don't see Disney giving their consent to add new attactions and at some point, Spiderman will be dated and in need of an upgrade.

In the short term...If Disney sells the Marvel merchandise at WDW, it's free advertising for IOA. Anything with Spiderman, Hulk, Dr. Doom or any of the current IOA characters will not be seen at WDW so until there is a contract buyout or whatever you want to call it, people will need to come to IOA to see Spidey and Co.

I definately don't think anything will change in the next 2-3 years. If anything was to happen in that time period, I think Universal will expand WWoHP before anything invloving Marvel comes to light.

My husband would love a Transformers ride more than a Spiderman one any day of the week. I'd like a SciFi themed area more than the Marvel one which is sad b/c I love Marvel Comics. I'm just not impressed with what Universal has done with it.

Disney also gets to check their financial records when ever they want. I don't see how Universal is going to put up with that for very long.

That's true and I agree with you however...it will take more than 2-3 years to completely retheme the island. I mean it took 4 years or so to do WWoHP and that's not all that big of an area. I think Universal will deal with it for as long as they possibly can and then something might happen. But regardless I don't see anything happening to Marvel Island within the near future.

It would only 1 year at the most to retheme. The only ride that would need to under go a major overhaul is SPidey. The rest would be Name, faceade, painting changes with no changes being made to the actual rides.

I would miss Spiderman big time but otherwise I don't think that Universal uses the Marvel characters all that well. What about DC comics? I realize that they're in Six Flags though.

I love Marvel but I fear what will become of the characters if they pop up in Disney parks.

It will take 2-3 just to develop a new ride for Spiderman and it won't be Transformers...I seriously doubt anyway. BTW...where are you hearing these rumors?

A few sources of mine but what you are forgetting is that the Transformers ride uses the same ride system as spidey so it would be reprograming and scenage change. It is a big task but would hardly take 2-3 years.

Well...I'll believe it when I see it.

Considering that IOA is all based on literature, I doubt very much that they would put a Transformers ride in the park. Unless I am very much mistaken, I don't believe that they started as comics? (although I do know these exist for them now).
If the Transformers Ride was to come over, I feel personally that it would be much better to put it in the Studios park.

Yes Transformers started out as Comics in 1983.

But I thought they were originally created by a Japanese toy company before they were featured in a comic? Also, didn't Battlestar Galactica start out as a TV show as well? I don't see how they'd fit that into a literature themed-park?

I'm not saying it won't happen, it all just seems a wrong fit somehow?

Did Dudley Doright start out as a comic?

The toys were not Tranformers but an existing line called Diaclone. The writers of the comics took a few designs and wrote Transformers. The comics came out first then the toys were released.

Why do people ask for other's opinions and then bash them when it is not what they want to hear? :sad2:

I think that it will take some time to retheme, yes it could only take a year to make the changes but first they have to actually start making plans. I am assuming by the time Universal needs to they will have come up with something new and unique to retheme the area. Almost every ride will need a new que, the whole area will have to be resigned and maybe painted. Plus whatever they do come up with will have different characters. A Sci-Fi theme is a good idea but I bet there are some new movie franchises out there that could be used too. (just no Vampires!)

I see no bashing only open conversation, show me where someone has been bashed. My opinion is different but I have bashed no one.

Sorry man, but I don't buy your 'sources' line. You're quoting an old thread from Orlando United pretty much word for word:

http://www.orlandounited.com/forums/showthread.php?3697-Replace-Marvel-Island-for-Transformers/page2

Busted!

Thats ok I do trust them. You still didn't answer my question did Dudley Do right start from a written source because I think they started on Rock & Bullwinkle.

So that doesn't fit the description of having to be based on literature.

No, it did not come from a pre-existing written source. However, the original content of this thread certainly did! :rotfl:

I have never seen that article but if you do a search at WDWmagic you will find a rather lenghty thread on the subject.

I really don't care if you believe me or not this is a rumor if you chhose not to believe it good for you.

To the bolded: SO that makes your argument invalid.
