Martex Vellux Blanket from Amazon

My mom got me a beautiful deep purple vellux blanket for Christmas. It goes perfectly with my comforter. I absolutely loved it, until I washed it. The inside of my washer and dryer are coated in purple fuzz. I pulled hand fulls of it out of my lint trap too. I'm so upset. I really loved the color of the blanket and have never been able to find anything like it. Now I'm going to have to have my mom send it back. I hope Amazon will pay for the return shipping.

Just wanted to give a heads up, in case anyone was thinking of buying a vellux blanket from Amazon. I bought DS one from Kmart a few years ago and it has held up great.

Did the washing instructions say that it was dry clean only? I would be afraid that you couldn't return it since you washed it. I know with mine they got fuzz everywhere but not handfuls. Good luck -- and let me know what happens. I had looked a these too.

The first time I washed mine it shed quite a bit. But after that it hasn't shed at all. I've had it for about a year and it's still in great condition. I love that blanket.

I agree, I would be afraid that you couldn't return it since you washed it already. Is it completely ruined?

It said machine wash on the tag attached to the blanket and on the package. The one I bought for my son never shed at all, not even the first time I washed it. I had to wipe out the inside of my washer and dryer with a damp paper towel to get the fuzz out. The blanket's not completely ruined, but you can see through the purple to the gray inside. If I try to use it I'm afraid it will get that fuzz all over my sheets and comforter. Not to mention that I'll probably be breathing it in while I sleep. I think I'll send Amazon an email today and see what they say.

It sounds defective and they should hopefully replace it.

Mine started shedding after about 10 years of hard use- it was worn through to the backing and I had to let it go, but other than that it didn't really shed at all.
