Marshmallow Roasting at AKL

I'm trying to figure out my ADR's and I'd like to get either Boma or Sanaa for dinner during Thanksgiving week. We're staying at AKL, does anyone know what time the marshmallow roasting usually takes place? Is it crowded? Is it worth it? I was hoping to go after dinner but if it's too early, then maybe we can just do it another night. Thank you!

We were at AKL on Sat, Jan 23. We were just walking around, checking stuff out before dinner at Boma. Our ADR was at 5:30, so I figure we were outside by the fire pit around 4:45-5ish. The marshmallow toasting was going on at that time. There were a fair number of people there.

We were there July of last year and the Marshmallow roasting started right before dark. It wasnt too crowded and the CMs did a great job. The kids are able to roast as many as they wanted. It was off the side by the animal viewing areas close to the pool.

Not sure of the time but I will say that almost every time we have been told "one to a customer." So unless you happen upon it and its not crowded then no, I wouldn't plan around it personally. Only once we were asked if we wanted more than one....

We are trying to plan the same thing for June. We have a 4:30 PM Boma ADR. Planning to check out the gift shop and watch the animals until the fire pit. Alot of what I have read so far, is that it happens right before dusk, so it will change depending on what season you are there. Planing for it to happen in June between 8-9PM. Should be enough to keep busy between our ADR and the fire pit. Really looking forward to an evening out of the parks at AKL - this will be a first for us. Usually we go all day at the parks, but this is the first time with our DS4 - so trying to plan breaks in days, or shorter day. Part of me feels it is just wrong to not do RD to close, but very much looking forward to seeing WDW in my DS's eyes! Also looking forward to escaping some of the heat and using the pools in the afternoons...

I was at AKV 2 days before goofy4tink, and it was going on at the same time (445-5). There weren't a ton of people (likely because it was a Thursday in January) and people could make all the marshmallows they wanted.

My youngest has enjoyed the marshmallow roast at POR, so I am sure she will love this one too.

Is it mainly for little kids? My DD-17 wanted to do it but I think she assumed it was at night.
