Our first trip to Hilton Head will be this August. I have requested a Marsh View. Is there a better view to request? Can the water be seen from the Marsh View?

:sunny:

The marsh view is our favorite. The marsh is actually Braod Creek - a large tidal creek that cuts thru the middle of HH itself. The marsh rises and falls about 8 feet between low and high tides and is home to many wildlife species.

We've watched dolphin from our marsh view balconies on every trip and have also seen river otter, osprey and (while we didn't get to see them) manatee have even been found at times in the marsh.

Every Tuesday evening after dark thru the summer, fireworks (compliments of the Shelter Cove Merchants Assoc - DVC is a member) are fired from a barge anchored right behind the resort in the marsh. Those with the marsh view will usually have great seats for the show. On July 4th, the display is even bigger than usual.

Other views at the resort include pool (only a few buildings have this view) and interior views of the wooded area of the resort. A few buildings face the Shelter Cove Marina - home to some very large boats/ships- but none of the balconies face towards that area- only 2nd bedroom windows and entry doorways.

I wouldn't worry too much about what view you'll get- they're all great, but would suggest marsh view if you have a choice.

Enjoy your visit to HH!

We love the marsh view and always request it and had no problem geting it. I think you'll really enjoy it. The wildlife in the marsh is amazing. We always bring a pair of binoculars, too.

Marsh view is a great idea for the reasons already posted. You may also need to request a third floor, however. A few of the buildings with marsh views may have filtered views through the trees and greenery on the first and second floors. Marsh views also face west, thus lots of direct sun in the summer afternoons can make your balcony a bit hotter if you plan to use it during that timeframe.

You can also consider the east facing views of the harbor. While not directly on the harbor (seperated by the driveway and some trees), the glimpses of the beautiful boats are also pleasant. The only views I personally don't care for are overlooking the pool, though I understand these are covetted views by many long time visitors.

Regardless, you really can't go wrong since this is a very beautiful resort, I have found all of our views peaceful and private and we've stayed in several buildings.

Do any of the 1BR's have marsh views? For that matter, where exactly are the 1BR's? A marsh view within the lodge itself would be great IMO.

There are 21 1BR villas (and 21 Studios) at HH. 16 of each are in buildings 11/12 (the lodge) and the remaining five are beneath a GV in the other areas of the resort.

Many of the 16 villas in the lodge will have a marsh view.

Here is a description of the <a href="http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=226883">HH Resort layout.</a>

Enjoy!
