marriotts?

we will be in orlando in november and want to stay close to the parks.
we have marriott points for free nights so can anyone recommend a great marriott resort?

I've stayed at the Marriott World Center and also the Imperial Palm Villa (on of the Marriott Vacation Club resorts located near the World Center). Both were fabulous and VERY close to the Disney parks!

Also consider Sabal Palms and Royal Palms that are both at the World Center complex. Sabal Palms, Royal Palms and Imperial Palm Villas are all timeshare resorts. Guest at any of the three may use facilities at the resort they're staying at, facilities at either of the other two resorts, or facilities at the hotel.

Missyrose is correct about the location of these properties relative to Disney property and their relative quality. They're nice resorts - and any of the three timeshare resorts have a resort feel to them that, IMO, a hotel just can't deliver.

We were at the world a few years back, in February, and the water was great. We'll be there for 1 day in February 2011 (Friday the 18th) and hope to find the same.

The primary outdoor pool at the hotel is HUGE but it is heated (as are the couple of other, smaller outdoor pools). The biggest general issue that I've found about using an outdoor pool in the Orlando area during February is the air temperature rather than the water temp. It can be uncomfortable when you get out of the pool if it's cool outside, and it can be cool in Orlando at any point during the month of February (it can be quite warm, too). One nice pool feature at this hotel is that there's an indoor pool, too. The indoor pool is adjacent to the outdoor pool complex so you could use both during the same pool visits.

World Center looks beautiful.

We love Residents Inns though through Marriott as we can get a kitchen and they feed you well (hot b-fast 7 days a week and free dinners M-Th!) We stayed at a RI in Orlando and it was wonderful. I don't remember off hand where it was located though.

We have stayed on points at the Courtyard and Springhill Suites at the Marriott Village. Both were ok, but so close to Disney. We just stayed last month at Marriott's Lakeshore Reserve which is a vacation club resort. Beautiful! A little farther from Disney, but so worth it. Looking into Harbour Lake for our next stay.

All of the Orlando Marriott Vacation Club resorts - Lakeshore Reserve, Cypress Harbour, Grande Vista, Harbour Lake, Royal Palms, Sabal Palms and Imperial Palm Villas (those latter three are located on the Marriott World Center hotel/conference center property, so they're closest to Disney) - are several steps up from most Marriott hotels.

I'd note that the Lakeshore Reserve timeshare property is the newest and fanciest of these resorts. Though still nice and featuring some great kids' pool features (pirates' ship and all), the Harbour Lakes resort is at the other end of the luxury scale as far as these Marriotts are concerned. So, if you end up reserving at Harbour Lakes, just be prepared that the villa will not be as well appointed as Lakeshore Reserve.
