Hi we want to stay at the marriott village but cannot decide whether to pick the fairfield or the courtyard. Can anyone give suggestions we have ds age 6. We would like a balcony if possible. Thanks Donna

I'll be at the Marriott Village starting Sat. I'll be at the Springhill Suites. I'll let you know when I come back on the 24th how it was. I've heard good things only about all of them I really wanted a Frig and Microwave so that's why we chose the suites.

Thanks that will be brilliant. Could you also recommend any eating places nearby. Thanks again Donna:D

We have stayed there twice both times at the fairfield. We liked it and its a nice area. You can't go wrong with either choice. But i will tell you the differences that i know about.

The fairfield has no balconies at all and at the courtyard a fair (not all) amount of rooms do and the ones facing the pool area would give you a nice view. You might want to join marriotts reward program it may help you with getting a better view and its free.
Also only 2 doubles at fairfield or 1 king but courtyard is 2 queens or 1 king. also no free cont. breakfast at courtyard just the fairfield and springhill suites. the pool at fairfield is nice but the one at the courtyard is 0 entry and has a glass wall you swim under and you are then inside so it has and indoor/outdoor pool. Not huge but helped us out when it was raining for 24 hours straight!! Back when we stayed there 2 years ago you could pool hop between the hotels. Meaning we were staying at faifield and were allowed to use the courtyard pool with our room key. There is a bar/lounge area at the courtyard also. Which i guess you could use even if you were at the fairfield since its right next door. They are all very close to each other.
Have you seen this website?...

good luck either choice will be fine!
:D

Having stayed at them both, my opinion is simple: The commons areas of the Courtyard are far superior, but as LisaRay points out, you can "pool hop," or at least you could about two years ago (heck, when were you there, LisaRay? Might have passed right by you).

As for advantages, the Fairfield has a continental breakfast free. The Courtyard has bigger, nicer rooms. If I remember correctly, the Fairfield does not have refrigerators, the Courtyard does (although they're funky little devices, really an electric cooler more than a refrigerator). The balconies at the Courtyard are nice. If I couldn't get one, I'd probably stay at the Fairfield.

The location, regardless of which you choose, is fantastic. As for eating places nearby, I there's several restaurants right outside the compound (two minute walk), one of them a "Lone Star Steak House," which is great. And within the complex is a food court, including Pizza Hut and a TCBY, an Oscar Meyer hot dog shop, and a pretty nice deli. Plenty of food to choose from if you didn't leave site for four or five days.

I think you'll enjoy yourself in either place. But if you give up the free breakfast and pay the extra for the Courtyard, get a balcony.

Thanks everyone I have booked the Courtyard because the tra el agent in the U.K quoted the same price for both $63.00. Not guaranteed a balcony though but they have made a note of the request. So here we come for 21 nights July 18th brilliant . Thanks again

21 nights!! WOW!

Make sure you sign up and join marriott rewards before the trip. You will earn alot of points for 21 nights and then they can be used for many things later not just free hotel nights.
You get 10 points for every $1 you spend so for example if you had a rate of $60 a night for 21 nights that would work out to 12,600 points. that is enough for a free night. Plus its free to sign up so why not;)

Have Fun!

Just back from Springhill Suites! Loved the micro/fridge , sitting area, and BALCONY! Also felt the pool was nice - check it out! They have a temporary tatoo/hair wrap guy there and a bar.

Warning: We had delivery of two medium and one personal pan pizza one night - $48 including a tip. Never again!

Other food court options are nice - especially the yogurt shop.

The food nearby is great! Landry's, Bahama Breeze, and Golden Corral are walkable on the same side of the street. Perkins, Pizzaria Uno, McDonalds, and more are across the main road - don't know if it's advisable to walk.

Have fun - double WOW on the 21 nights!!

DonnaMc.... ok this is NONE of my business but after hearing that the springhill suites has balconies too! And hearing that you are staying for 21 nights. I have to add my 2 cents for what its worth??

I would check into rates at the springhill suites. If it is not much higher it might be worth considering. Because they have the microwave and fridge plus the sofa sitting area and free breakfast and for 21 mornings of breakfast that could add up quick! They also have a 0 entry pool and if you could get a balcony there it would suit all your needs and save you $$ on eating in the mornings. might be worth a look?

or just ignore me and go ahead with your plans ....... just because i can never make up my mind and am always changing my plans doesn't mean i should drag you down too! :p

Just note that only a few rooms at Springhill Suites have balconies.

The Courtyard has a few suites. Perhaps Donna Mc could request an upgrade.

Thanks again for all the brilliant info. Rang the agent and it would be an extra $20 per night for the springhill suites so we are just going to stay at the Courtyard. I agree 21 nights is fab I can't believe we are actually doing it, but coming from the U.K we are lucky if we can visit every other year. Non disney people keep saying "what are you going to do for 21 days". Doh they need to visit.I joined Marriott rewards today so thanks for that info can I still earn rewards although I booked before I became a member. Thanks again I love these boards super info.

I can't believe it was $20 more! I think you definatly made the right choice. You can eat breakfast for less than that on your own.

I am about 99% sure that you can still earn points. You might want to add your reward # to your reservation once you have it. That way they will know you are a member in case it helps you get a balcony room. If not then at least let them know when you check in so you will get credit for your stay. They should send you a marriott rewards card i believe. My DH travels so he does all this stuff not me but i enjoy the benefits:D

Have a good trip and 21 days is not too long since you don't come as often as others. I never go for less than a week but prefer 10 days. My motto is that if i'm going all that way ( from illinios, HA!!) i'm gonna stay long enought to relax and enjoy it!

Personally I prefer the Courtyard over Springhill. Our room seemed small at the Springhill. The refrig. area and desk are small. We just felt cramped with a sofa, bed, and the kitchen area. Daughter stayed at Fairfield and preferred our rooms at the Courtyard.

The Courtyard pool is very very nice. Have a great time.
