Hi Everyone: We stayed at the Celebration World Resort in Kissimee for a really cheap rate with the obligation to sit through their presentation (not bad). But then we found out that the rooms we stayed in (not great) are not the actual timeshare owner rooms. We would like to do the same and check out the Marriotts but I am wondering how you get a deal like that and if you stay in the actual owner style units. Has anyone done these and how did you book it (is there an online site that books Marriott presentations cheap). Any help is appreciated.

At Grande Vista, Marriott is currently offering four nights for $199 if you sit thru a presentation. The offer ends in June, around the 15th. I don't know if that was a two bedroom villa or not, but I am sure that you stayed on-site and that you had to take the tour on your second day there. It was an offer thru an airline, I think, because it came with 7,500 points, or perhaps it was thru American Express.

I have gone to Marriott's presentation at Ocean Pointe in West Palm Beach. We stayed in a 1 BR villa with the second BR locked off. It was the same villas the members stayed in. I believe we paid $199 for 4 or 5 nights...this was in 2001 so I'm a little fuzzy on the details. The resort was very beautiful.

Once we went to a Hilton presentation, it was in '02 and when we went to finalize the great rate for the stay, the person told us we would not be staying at the timeshare but we would be picked up. We told him that we were not interested at all if we could not stay where they were selling. Wouldn't you know, a place on site was found, a wonderful one bedroom suite. So, it's worth a try to say that if you really want to stay on site.

We went through the Marriott presentation recently for a resort in Arizona. We received a postcard for this special promotion. Once we called and acted on it, we were asked if we had attended another timeshare presentation either in the past 6 or 12 months...just beward that it seems they won't let take advantage of any hotel deals until a certain amount of time has elapsed.

We stayed at the Marriott Grand Vista in Orlando April '02 on a $169/3 night/2-bdrm promo. The resort was nice, the 2-bdrm was nice, the presentation was way too long, and it did not live up to our expectations. A 1 & 1/2 hour presentation turned into a 3 hour sell where I knew as much, if not more than the sales rep who did lie to us about the incentive they were offering. About a week after we returned home, we received an 'offer' from Marriott: If we bought in through them at the Grand Vista, we would receive an extra 150,000 reward points just for joining. We received another 'offer' from Marriott about a month after that offering 200,000 reward points. We decided against the purchase. And I wasn't happy with the fact that if we had bought while we were there, we would not have received the extra points. We liked the way Disney handles the sales a lot better! Just my experience.

Marriott sometimes puts people on the specials at nearby hotels rather than the actual resort being presented. Just make sure you know what you're getting if you decide for this type of carrot.

Marriott's timeshare sales pitches are pretty low key. At least I've found it to be so...and I've attended 3 or 4 of em. As for the person who posted about the Marriott partnership with an airline, I believe it's American Airlines. Perhaps if you visit AA's website there will be a Marriott promo on there. :wave2:
