Marriott Sabal Palms or Royal Palms?

I have spent a few days researching everything I can on these 2 resorts. We had already booked at Marriott Cypress Harbour where I stayed before, but now we need 3 weeks and I can't get 3 through Interval using my bonus weeks so I have to choose between these instead to accommodate family members.

From what I gather, Sabal Palms is the closest to World Center and has its own pool. Does Royal Palms have its own pool and is it too far to walk to the World Center Pool? I am not sure how often we would use the pool there if we had our own because we will have some little kids with us.

Any preference between the 2 of things to consider before I choose? I am already expecting these to be "lesser" than Cypress Harbour and Grande Vista but so it goes. TIA!

Royal Palms still has their whirlpool tub in the room

Sabal Palms has a walk in shower instead.

got Sabal Palms because heard it was better then found out about the tub. Too cheap to change it.

get to try something different!

I hate to confirm for you but you are right. Cypress Harbour is a fantastic place and, IMHO, much nicer then the other resorts you are considering. That said, of the two, I would choose Sabal. Royal shares a pool in the central location with Imperial and Imperial has its own pool as well but Royal does not. Some of the Royal units are way down the road, there is no pool, and it is next to the highway with lots of road noise. Sabal is more isolated behind the world resort.

I'd go for Sabal. We've stayed at Imperial before and it was nice. Some of the Royal units back up to the road like Jeff says.

Hope you're doing great. I think of you every time I use my DVC cooler bag! We're still enjoying our Fairways peak summer week for trading through Interval International. Gotta love those bonus weeks through II.

Thanks everyone! I keep hoping by some miracle I'll see another week with II AC for Cypress Harbour but so far no luck!! Oh the sacrifices we make for family but Sabal sounds like a good option and it does look like the World Center pool is great after the remodel.

Littlestar - good to hear from you! We still love our Fairways weeks as well! Have you been staying at DVC? We just used so many points at DL and have a week after this Marriott week at OKW. I told DH I need more OKW points for my 40th b'day so we'll see next year! :thumbsup2

The resorts are nice and high standard as with any Marriott but keep in mind, using that shuttle to go back and forth to the world (where everything is happening) is a royal (ha ha) PITA. i hated getting dropped off at the main lobby in swim suits, lugging all the family poolside items, and walking through the lobby filled with business travelers. Even worse going back. You can walk it but then you are playing "frogger" with all the traffic and it is a decent walk. Still, that world pool is amazing. Almost makes it worth it. Almost :)

Whenever we have this arrangement it always seems we prefer the ease and quiet of the small pool nearby but it will be nice to have the option at least for a fun day at the World Center. Can we drive ourselves over?

I've been giving my DVC points away as wedding gifts here lately. Just gave SSR to a couple from church this last week and gave a couple nights in Hawaii to another couple from church back in December. Am actually booked (using my Wyndham points through RCI) at BLT here real soon- can't wait. Never stayed on the monorail before. Love our Fairways summer week for trading in II, though.

I liked the Marriott World Center stay really well at Imperial. I think you'll enjoy it.

Sure thing, but they'll charge you for parking and valet :)

do they charge for parking at the timeshares or just the hotel?

you will love BLT!!! owned at OKW sold it for BLT - no regrets love it! (now other family members disagree)

Thanks everyone, as it turns out I was able to grab a Grande Vista week instead so maybe we'll stay at Sabal Palms another time. We have been at Grande Vista a few times and always enjoyed it. :thumbsup2
