Has anyone stayed here before their cruise?? We're taking our first cruise in July and will be spending the day/night before there and would love to hear others' experience (couldn't find anything recent). Originally we booked it because it was close to Disney Springs but now I'm not sure if my DS will want to leave the pool!! We will be driving to the port the next day, does anyone recommend either at the hotel or perhaps a place nearby for breakfast?

I found a few reviews (see link below) in case you are interested.

We are locals and stay on property when we have our Staycations...so I cannot help with personal experience. I have a couple of friends who are Marriot members who LOVE this resort though.
As for breakfast the day you go to port, there is an awesome buffet that will be available once you get onboard. Depending on your PAT, you might want to hold off on breakfast and have a wonderful buffet. :)

Have a great cruise.

I have stayed there before. Its a nice hotel. It is very large and you could end up with a long walk to the lobby. Its typical of a convention center hotel and can be a bit crowded if there is an event going on. One plus is that if you get an upper floor room in the tower facing WDW you can catch some glimpses of the some of the landmarks.

No free breakfast?

I can't remember the last time that I stayed in a hotel that didn't have SOMETHING of an included breakfast .....

Oh well, your hotel boasts many restaurants so certainly one has a decent breakfast.

In the prime tourist area of Orlando I would not expect to find something outside the hotel that was 'noteworthy'
and a review via Google Maps suggests I'm right

I suggest getting something in the hotel ..... I don't think you'll find a nice Greek/American diner close by .... those are the BEST brkfst places IME

but am waiting for someone to prove me wrong.

Now if you were staying in Canaveral I COULD recommend ... but 9 of 10 places here have something included for breakfast too ....

Its pretty isolated as I recall. However being a large conference center I do recall there being plenty of food options. Nothing complementary of course. I guess they assume everyone is on an expense account.

We stayed just down the road from the Marriott World Center at the Caribe Royale. There was a Dunkin Donuts not too far where we grabbed breakfast before the cruise. Not ideal place to stop but the kids like it. From my memory, there are a lot of restaurants nearby. We didn't have to go far for dinner either. We needed a Target for a few emergency items and that was pretty close. Also a grocery store - Publix I think. So the location is central to many places and I'm sure you will find something good to eat.
For what it's worth, we stayed at the Marriott many years ago and there are many places to eat right on their property.

Just stayed at Marriott World Center the end of October. As others have said, it is geared toward conferences and as such is big and lacks the complimentary breakfast that some of the other Marriott branded hotels offer. There is a resort fee of around $25 a night but it includes shuttle to the parks for a certain number of folks in each room per day. We also stayed a couple of nights at the Hilton Lake Buena Vista prior to moving to the Marriott. Older hotel and rooms not as nice as the Marriott but easy walk to Disney Springs along with a nice pool area. If convenience to Disney Springs is a high priority, it is a good option.

We didn't stay there but the NAIDC were held there this summer. It is a huge hotel with a fantastic pool. I think it may be one of the largest hotels in Florida and perhaps the largest Marriott in the world. Did I mention it's a big hotel? Hotels this size typically don't offer free breakfasts.
We didn't stay there, but stayed at a Residence Inn a couple miles away, with a free breakfast. Disney Springs is very close to the World Center; however, if we stayed there, I'm not sure I would want to leave the pool.

stayed there a number of times. Pool is great, with some excellent water slides. Pool has a laser light show themed to music nightly. Rooms facing the pool have a view of all WDW fireworks. There is also a food court where you can grab a quick breakfast in addition to their restaurants. Walmart just around the corner for any last minute needs prior to heading to PC.

Have stayed there a couple times. Place is fantastic but massive. If self-parking, prepare to walk a mile to your room. If you're good with Starbucks for breakfast, there's full-size Starbucks in the lobby. Think there is just one sit-down restaurant open for breakfast. Quick pickup breakfast on the first floor (lobby is on the second). Have to drive 10+ minutes towards Universal for another breakfast.
