Has anyone stayed here on points?

We have a search ongoing through II for any week in October, 2009.

We put in for it in February, 2008.

If you did stay here, what did you think, and how long did it take you to get a match?

Most Marriott owners can only reserve at 12 months out. Marriott owners that own multiple weeks can reserve at 13 months out. So you're still early, yet, to see any Marriott deposits.

If you are trying for a studio or 1 bedroom, your odds are good I think. Two bedrooms would be a little tougher. Maybe Dean will chime in later on the probability for October and various sized units at Koolina.

We stayed there in February of '07 and loved it!

We did it through MS using a trade out certificate to II we won on the DVC Member Cruise. We gave them a two month range and told them we would take a studio or one bedroom. Got a call about a week later with a match on a studio.

We loved it so much we seriously thought about buying in there. We didn't and I'm glad because now we're going to wait and add on when DVC opens up sales for their new resort.

I'd say the chances are good for Oct, 2009 but better for a 1 BR than a 2 BR. I would likely not do a studio. Still, there's no guarantee one would get anything for that time of year.
