I just booked our trip for October for the GV. Has anyone stayed there recently? Have any pictures especially of the new pool? If anyone has any info that would be appreciated! Thanks

I stayed there in May - and the pool was almost ready.

I was over in building 97.

this last time I was very unpleased with my stay here.

before this trip - the rooms were superior, the pools, the hallways, the landscaping - this year - I am not sure what happen.

the rooms were still superior - the outside area were just plain dirty - the whole time we were there no one made any illiusions about cleaning the outside.....they just didn't clean that area....

So the pool because of kids running into the pool without cleaning their feet - make the pool not that great - and besides that it was downright cold!!!! before in May the pool was heated this year it was not.....this is not the main pool - but the one over behind 97. The main pool I think was heated.

when you complaint we were told that it would be fixed next time. they are during a complete rehab of all the building.

but nothing was done at the time....

I don't think a Marriott should ever let their outside walkways get just plain dirty....

when I did the survey that Marriott and II sends out I made a note of the dirt in the walkways....

Would I still stay here - probably - it is still a nice resort - but I would definitely bring pool shoes and never go out the door without shoes on.....

Sorry I did love this place once!!!!

We stayed there in May 2004 and absolutely loved it! It was beautiful and clean. We could have stayed there the entire time and enjoyed every minute of it. We stayed in the main building. It was beautiful. When we checked in we found that if we stayed in the main building we were going to have to have a smoking room (we checked in early). I told them there was no way I could stay in a smoking room and I was highly allergic and wouldn't even consider it. She asked if we wanted to go check it out and then decide because she was sure I would not be able to smell smoke anywhere in the room. Reluctanly I said I will go try it. She was right! There wasn't a smoke smell anywhere, in the linens, curtains, anywhere. The room was beautiful! Also, while we were there, they were building a fort themed pool that I am sure will be wonderful! The main pool is fun and has games and activities during the afternoon. There is an indoor play palace for the children that my son wanted to stay at all the time. It was by far the nicest play yard I had ever seen. They have special events for the children including an animal show where kids can see snakes, alligators, and leopards. Then on Friday they have a Sunset party where the "Party Animals" come out. My son had his picture made holding an alligator and also with a skunk, a snake, and a Florida Panther. Did I mention that their laundry services are free???? Do all the laundry you want while lounging by the pool! I would absolutely stay there again!

Quasi .... thanks for the "good" update. I have been getting a little worried lately with the reviews. Your post made me look forward to being there. I think my 4yo dd is going to have a blast this trip. I am so excited!

the 80's building were being redone - so yes they would be fine.

those were the building that were in rehab. I think in May they have gotten up to building 87. check and see - don't take a building that has not been rehab.

I agree with Spiceycat, try to get a bldg. that has been redone. We did not. The first bldg. we were assigned was 99 and I couldn't believe the condition of this room. Reeked of smoke, rusty table, torn curtains. We immediately requested another room which was bldg. 93 I think. This room was much better. To be honest, this resort just didn't live up to my expectations which maybe were too high. It wasn't terrible by any means, but we have stayed at much nicer timeshares in the area...JMO. I also didn't care for the layout of the 2 bedroom, my fault actually since I had seen the pictures and already knew what they looked like but somehow I had pictures them differently. The unit, grounds and pools were clean, no problem with that. The elevator constantly had a very strong odor of bug spray which I have never noticed at any other resort/hotel in Fla. New pool area was nice but nothing over the top, I think younger children would really like it though. The one thing I did really like about this resort were the prices. Having just come from the RPR where a hot dog and coke at the pool was over $10.00 (!) I thought the prices at the Pizza Hut and little store were very reasonable, a welcome change!

I just got back from a stay at MGV in a 2 bdrm/2bath unit (Sept 3-9,2004). I had originally requested a unit in blg either 90 or 91 - I got there early and was offered a room right away in blg 87, but was told this was not one of the renovated blgs and that I could wait. After about a 1 hr wait, I was given a lock off unit in blg 83 on the 2nd floor (3226/3225).

It was beautiful!! I know it's supposed to be like St Augustine, but the interior reminded me more of Tuscany than Florida. I can try to email pics if anyone wants any...just pm me.

The associates were ok - nothing to write home about in my opinion, but they did keep us updated well regarding Frances.
We were asked to stay in our rooms starting Friday afternoon. Someone came by with a gallon of water and a 12hr glow stick, in case the power went out. Services were disrupted thanks to the storm, but I think they had the guests (and associates) safety in mind.

I didn't check out the new pool area - only walked around the main pool area (not crowded).

Please pm me if you have any other questions I may be able to answer.

Maybe we will see you there. We arrive on the 22nd and leave on the 30th.
We stayed there last year and loved it. DW, DD(2then), mother in law and father in law.
I didn't realize there was so much "new" stuff there.
We loved the location also since we do WDW, Universal, and SeaWorld.

See ya around the campus maciec !!

WOW! That's really cool that we will be there at the same time.

We just got a free night certificate in the mail from Marriott and I was hoping to get dh to go a day early, but he doesn't have any more time to take off  Guess we'll just have to use it somewhere else. Oh well.

We (as a favor to my parents) are going to take the tour. They get Marriott points and hopefully we will get something good (like park tickets).

Hi, We're going there too, we are arriving on the 30th. I am going to take the advice and call now to get building 81 or 82, I think those were the new ones by the pool right? I own there and always forget the "good" buildings. I need to keep a map of the place here:smooth:

Does anyone know which of the building are refurbished and which ones aren't? We're staying there over THanksgiving and would like to put in a request for refurbished building.

I can let you know when we get back!

I stayed in bldg 83, and that had been redone.

Have a great time!
