Marriott Grande Vista..walk to Sea World..really?

I stayed at GV for one week in July. I tried the hair dryer (not that great in my villa). I would recommend bringing your own.

However effective they might be, there is a hair dryer in each bathroom.

Aww, Lisa you are so nice. We will be there this Friday, 10/1-10/8 ..just missing you haha.. Im nervous!! lol I hope we are in a good location there ..at least to the pools.. We have a 3 BR villa

I hope you have a good trip! We are headed to FL on 10/8, one day at WDW on 10/9, then out on a cruise 10/10-14 and staying at the Grande Vista one night 10/14. We're just in the guest room, which I assume is the studio lockoff. Our original plan was Sea World that day, and that's why I chose GV. However, after seeing the big pools and such, we are just gonna hang out at the resort and maybe take the trolley up and down International Blvd for putt putt and a meal. If we're up to it, we might work in a massage at the resort spa (depends on price) or at Massage Envy (only $49!!!).

That's just not correct. Are you mixing up the locations of Grande Vista and Cypress Harbour? That's about the right mileage for Cypress Harbour or the Harbour Lake Resort, for that matter, to the Renaissance. Both of those Marriotts are just off Westwood Boulevard and closer to SeaWorld than Grande Vista is.

no put in Marriot's Grande Vista

I think Spicy is confused. :rolleyes1 From those of us who have actually been there, the 2.4 miles that mapquest says sounds correct. Definately not a walk which is what you are asking about. Have fun.

I have been there 5 times

between it and where you turn left to SW - is the woods, Denny's and a gas station.

what do you remember?

plus if you are walking you are going in another entrance -not the main one - so you don't need to walk to the parking lot at all.

haha.. thank you all... you guys are funny... sorry if Im mixin anyone up :rotfl:

also... any insight on the hairdryers?? are they good? should I bring my own?

thanks! Jackie

hey when people try to make fun of me - well - they have to be able to prove what they are saying. If they can't.....

the hair dryer was fine - now if you use it to style your hair it might be better to bring your own.

if you just use to dry your hair - then MGV is fine. just remember to move your hair - otherwise it does take a long time.

We stayed in August and Grand vista has a town car they can call for you or a taxi. I used both. The front desk prefers a private service and they call for you it was a flat rate fee. The town car took us to Sea world and was 10 flat.

An Escalade took us to Aquatica and that was 15 flat. Gave a 3 dollar tip. so 18.
Same day we took a cab back... including tip it was 10.

Not making fun, just making sure the information provided is accurate. According to google maps:

Seaworld entrance is at 7007 Sea Harbor drive, to get to MGV you head northeast on sea harbor drive for .5 miles, 2nd right onto internation drive and go 1.3 miles, turn left onto Avenida Vista and go .6 miles to the MGV located at 5925 Avendia Vista. Add that up and its 2.4 miles which is what we have been saying all along and correct information for the OP to make her decision on.

This is one of those rare occasions when everybody is actually correct.

Jeff is right that it's about 2 1/2 miles from Grande Vista to the SeaWorld entrance.
And PatJ is right that Google Maps says that it's 0.8 miles from Grande Vista to the Marriott Renaissance and 1.0 mile to SeaWorld.
However, Google Maps is wrong. Go figure.
Google Maps places "5925 Avenida Vista, Orlando, FL 32821 (Marriott's Grande Vista)" at the location of the Marriott Residence Inn hotels that's just off Westwood Boulevard instead of its actual location off I-Drive.

If you plug in just the resort's address instead of the resort's name then Google Maps will get it right.

you can walk it. It is probably less than a mile.

Ahh Dick, that explains the mapping software but spicy did make this post earlier and we all thought she was wrong and that was the information the OPer was looking for.

Sure, and I think that I had the first posts on this thread with both the correct distance and to questioning her accuracy. But she was clearly relying on the information that she got from Google Maps that we know now to have been incorrect.
I'm pretty sure that there were enough of us in agreement on the distance that the OP was confident that it would be too far to walk with a baby in a stroller.

Hey all!!!! Im back!!! Sorry to cause any hype about the walking..haha...

First.. MGV was AWESOME!!! It was beautiful and the people were just GREAT!!!! We were in the MAIN building...our room was on the 2nd floor..rooms 205/206 (3 BR villa) ...our view was of the water/paddle boats and the light house and fountain. The lighthouse was LITERALLY right outside our living room window..haha.

We werent around enough to take advantage of the activities bc we were so busy with going to the parks, etc... but loved the pools and the food that we tried while there. oh.. and I used my own hairdryer..haha

We didnt walk to sea world.. but I can see where someone would say it IS doable. If we walked it.. we definitely would have driven to the front of the property to that front lot and parked our car and walked from there...it didnt look like a bad walk at all.. but we figured since we were getting into Sea World for free (Military) then it was no biggie and plus, we wanted to save our legs.

I did see the I trolley pick up.. literally right out in front of the property (the Vacation club building, I believe)....

We also had the Complimentary photo session and picture. Our pics turned out great!! Eric did ours!!!

I LOVED the indoor gym for our daughter.

I enjoyed talking with you guys and loved your help and input.

We truly had a great time on this trip.. it was our last "HOORAH" /family trip before my husband begins all his training for his deployment (his next set of training actually begins this weekend for 3 weeks).. so, we got this trip just in time. Im just sad its ok.. going to miss the DIS boards... but will definitely still lurk and chat.. but at the same time with make me sad since I wont be planning a trip to Disney for a while.
