Marriott Grande Vista vs Cypress Pointe GV

I'm back with yet another question

I currently have reservations through hotel kingdom for a 3BR at the CPGV for $128/night and just found out I may be able to get the same time and basically the same price for a 3BR at Marriott Grande Vista.

I've done a lot of reading about the CPGVs and think they sound great, but now with this option, I'm not sure what to do?

There will be 9 of us: my family (DH, DD7, DD6, DS 23 months, and me), my mom and dad and my sister and BIL.

Is the Marriott farther from Disney? That is one of the things that sounds so good about the CPGVs - that it's pretty close to Disney.

I think that's my main concern because I've read very good reviews about the Marriott Grande Vista, but don't have a real good handle on how much farther it is.

Thanks so much again!

First, I would find out exactly what the bed mix is in both units.

Sometimes those Marriots have odd bed mixes.

That is a real good price for a 3 br at Marriot. I thought they were over $250 anite.

herc.

You can get to the parks from the Grande Vista in about 10 - 15 minutes depending on which park you are going to. The GV is beautiful, but it has gone up so much in price that we are going to stay at Cypress Point GV instead. How are you getting such a good rate for the Grande Vista? The only good rates I can find are for timeshare deals which I won't do.

The MGV is less than 15 minutes (if that) from the WDW gates. It is a incredibly beautiful resort inside and out. I have only stayed at the MGV, not the CPGV, but I know MGV is a 5 star and CPGV is a 3 star. MGV is more upscale, but still with a great family oriented atmosphere and tons to do My kids especially loved the sand area by the lake (no access to the water). I've seen pics of the CPGV, but after staying at MGV, I know I'd be dissappointed. Just my opinion.

I'd go for the Marriott without hesitation. My kids are begging to go back and I will definitely return there. If you can get a rate like that, you'd better grab it now.

At the MGV, there is a fantastic toddler pool for your 23 month old to sit/stand/play in with chairs for the parents, all fenced in. THere is also a lap pool and quiet pool, 3 outdoor jacuzzis too.

The main pool has a water fall and those water things that squirt from the ground up like a geyser. Also, there's a great indoor play place completely padded all around, i couldn't get my kids out of it at night. The activities looked like tons of fun, but we never got there in time, so we just walked by or watched on.

Feel free to pm or email me if you want any more specifics on the MGV....I do think you will be happy at either place.

The 3 bdrm Marriott Grande Vista that we stayed in had a king bed in the master bedroom, two queens (or maybe they were doubles) in the one bedroom and a lock-off bedroom with one queen and a sofa bed. There was also a sofa bed in the living room.

There was a master bath with shower/whirlpool tub, a full bath in the main area and a full bath in the lock-off area.

I have never stayed at the CPGV, so I can't help with that.

We did love our stay at MGV, even though I once vowed never to stay off-property. Since it's my parents' time share we are staying there again this year (since the price to us can't be beat!)

A new pool complex is supposed to be opening at the MGV in June, but we'll be there too early for that.

I've never been to CPGV either (am considering staying in regular Cypress Pointe in the fall for a "cheapie" trip), but Marriott Grande Vista is absolutely wonderful.

We had a 2bed, 2 bath, one with king, one with two doubles and I could just go on about this place. It was wonderful. Everything about it.

They honored everything we requested and the maid service is superior.

We were bowled over.

Good luck with your choice.

Gotta ask, where did you get such a great rate? I checked all the discount sites with Hotel Kingdom being the first and there is nothing out there even comparing to that. ARe you sure that your husband got that rate from one of those sites or could he have gone on an aution site like SkyAuction?

I am soooooooooo happy to hear about the great reviews mGV has. We are taking a time share promotion opportunity the first week in June (are very first one) and also included are two tickets to DW so we are making our first trip their also. I having been searching all the bb for tips and reviews but these are just great. I upgraded the offer to the one bedroom 2ad/2children. I found out that we get our tickets at check in and our presentation is scheduled for Wed. I was hoping that they would have discount ticket for the kids for MK and possible add on another day so we can visit the park two days instead of one. I just cannot wait, haven't told the kids that we were going to MK and this wonderful resort, but I am getting so excited the cat is sure to come out of the bag!!!!!!!!

It has been a number of years ago, but I stayed at CP Grandevillas. It was okay, but nothing like DVC or Marriotts.
Last December we were at Grande Vista for the weekend. We were moving to Boardwalk since we are DVC members. Well, we actually hated to leave Grande Vista. The resort is beautiful. I was so impressed that in June, a friend and I are going back with our kids for the week and leaving the dhs home. I own other timeshares other than Disney and was able to get a trade here. We can't wait.

We stayed at CPGV in May 2002 and MGV just two weeks ago. For similar rates, I would definitely go with MGV. Without traffic on I-4 (or going the back way south on International Dr.) it's not more than 15-20 minutes to the parks. Rooms at MGV were beautifully furnished and housekeeping was great. Bed/bath set up was also better for us at MGV (1 king, two doubles, and a queen with sofa bed). Main pool was crowded but nice. "Marketplace" was basically a small convenience store and you could also get subs, pizza, Starbucks and ice cream.

We got our 3 bedroom at CPGV for less than $90/night back in 2002. For that rate I was satified, but would never pick it over MGV if rates were comparable. Bed mix was 1 king, 1 queen and 2 singles. Room with the singles was very small and didn't have a tv (at MGV all rooms have cable tv). Also had to go into hallway to get to bath from third bedroom (at MGV it's attached). Our actual unit had a musty/mildew odor and was definitely due for new carpet and refurbishment which I believe was going on at the time. Housekeeping was not available through our Hotelkingdom deal which was a major minus. Pool area was very nice and there was a good convenience store with some prepared food options. Location was good, but only about 10 mins. closer than MGV.
