I appreciate the feedback.....I'm going to call today & try to book something close to the pools!
I have heard there are no slides at GV, but Marriott Horizons does have them.....hope that helps!
I suspect that if you're renting directly from Marriott that they might make an attempt to honor your placement request but if you're exchanging a timeshare through Interval International I'd be surprised if you get what you want at this resort. We've stayed here a few times and we've not been placed where we've requested for any of our visits - a very different experience from that of sister resort Cypress Harbour where they've gone out of their way to give us exactly what we've asked for. But, you know, that's not bad because this is such a nice resort that pretty much any location is very good.
As others have said, there are two pools that serve the buildings that are furthest from the main clubhouse area. Both of those pool area always seem to be under utilized. There's a nice pool area with lots of seating, a large hot tub and a childrens' water spray area between buildings 97 and 98. This pool also serves buildings 95, 96, 99 and 100 (we stayed in 99 this year and really liked the location) though none of them are very far from the main pool area (the furthest building - 98 - is no more than a 10 minute walk to the main pool). The pool is pretty basic but could handle lots of people. The pool behind building 91 serves buildings 87, 88, 89, 90, 91 and 92 (we've stayed in building 89). Also a basic pool set up with (I think) a hot tub, none of which ever seems very busy. It would take 10-12 minutes from the furthest buildings (88 and 89) in this section to walk to the main pool.
The main pool area has a large, rambling community pool, a lap pool, a couple of hot tubs, a sauna, and I think there's another small pool there, too. This is conveniently located next to the activities center, the marketplace store, the pizza hut express and the lighthouse bar. This pool is clearly the center of water activity for most guests. The buildings around this pool area are 80 through 83 and 93 - 94, which are across the street.
The newest buildings, 77-79 and 84-86, are across the lake from the main pool area and are served by the Plaza del Sol pool area and the Copa Loca bar and grill. Though the buildings in this area are the newest at the resort most of the older buildings (perhaps all of the older buildings now) have been renovated and are very nice.
This is a topnotch resort with IMHO a pleasant and responsive staff. The only issue we've ever had here is that is seems like there's never enough parking available in the older parts of the resort.
