Does anyone know of any discounts (other than AAA) currently available for the Marriott Grande Vista? After reading all the fabulous reviews, I'm thinking of switching from a hotel suite to the MGV 2 bedroom. I've run several web searches, but they're all coming up about the same price...$159 a night. I even filled out an online timeshare info sheet and joined Marriott Rewards program, hoping that might put me on some sort of contact list for a discount postcard or email. Hope I don't regret THAT maneuver. Any ideas on where to look and who to ask for a better rate?

Go to www.marriottrewards.com, then go to promotions, type in your dates and click on vacationclub locations. You will be given grande vista and cypress harbour for 134.00/night for a two bedroom.(if they are available for your dates). We are staying there at the first of June after spending three nights at Portofino. Another option is to go to www.tug1.org there you will find timeshare owners who need to rent out there weeks or lose them. We have rented several times at the Hilton Grand Vacation Club and Marriott grande vista for as little as 750.00 for an entire week. I would never buy a timeshare knowing I can rent a week for what some timeshare owners pay in yearly maintenance fees. Good Luck!!!!

fastbreak - Thanks so much for the tip. By using the Marriott Rewards site ( I had just signed up for the free membership) I was able to get a members only rate of $123 a night for a two bedroom villa at Grande Vista for the week of June 10. As the only female in a family of five, I am overjoyed to be going from a small hotel suite to a plush two bedroom, TWO BATHROOM villa!!! Sons 3, 7 and 16 love to swim and hubby loves to golf, so I think they will all be happy, too.

Since you've stayed at MGV before, any tips or recommendations? I looked at the Hilton, too. How does it compare? Which do you prefer? We go to WDW/USF 3 or 4 times a year, but this is our first condo/villa stay. I can't wait!

Maybe we'll see you in June. We're also staying at the Portofino Bay Hotel for three nights prior to the Marriott Grande Vista. Love that front of the line access at IOA and USF!

Have a wonderful, safe trip and thanks again for the help. :)

We've stayed at both and I consider them comparable. The styles are different but the quality is the same, IMHO. MGV may appeal more to a golf fan, since they have the golf course onsite. HGVC offers an indoor theater. Other differences are minimal - they are both top-of-the-line resorts, both located in the same general area. Enjoy!

You will love the Grande Vista, HGVC and Grande Vista are very similar, the Grande Vista is a little less concrete and a little more landscaping. Both resorts imho are without compare as far as timeshares go. Both marriott and hilton are the leaders in elegance and quality when it comes to vacation stays. By the way, the only reason we picked Grande Vista this time is, I can slip out and play golf on our down days and not feel to guilty. You will love it there. One last note, if you want to be close to the largest pool ask for bldgs 80 or 81, call the resort direct a week before you go and request, they usually fill most requests.

Hey fastbreak I am hoping you can help me, we are staying at the grande vista in february and tried your suggestion for going to marriott rewards.com and going to promotions only when I do that I am not given an option to enter dates or choose vacation club location. All I get is a take two promotion - that is it.. Can you help me???

Thanks, Carol

Watch eBay as well. We stayed at the HGVC last February (President's week) with a timeshare rental I won on eBay for only $675!!! HGVC was a great place.

Go to www.marriottsrewards.com. Then in lefthand column click on member specials. You will then get a screen where you need to click view all specials. Then type in usa for country, and florida for state. You should then get the discounted offer for grande vista. Good luck!!!
