Hi. My husband and I are planning special trip alone together this fall and would like to stay at Marriott Cypress Harbour. Unfortunately, the island pool, beach area, sauna, and bridges linking island/resort will be closed for refurbishment during our visit. Will there still be enough to do and enjoy at this resort or should we consider a different place to stay? Thanks very much!

There are two additional pool areas at the resort - the smallest of the three pool areas, known as the Bayside Pool, at the west end of the resort lake nears Buildings 60 and 62, and the large Clubhouse Pool area that's adjacent to the main clubhouse. Also near the Clubhouse Pool are the resort's Marketplace store, the Pizza Hut Express, the Galley Grill and the Pavillion Bar. There are lots of deck chairs and lounge chairs near that Clubhouse Pool, one or two hot tubs, many tables/chairs in the area.

Near the front of the resort, there are a couple of tennis courts, a fairly new work-out facility and a spa. On the grounds, there's a putting green, a shuffleboard court, a volleyball court, a basketball court, a bocce court, a little mini-golf course, an odd little fleet of water craft for rent, and bicycles and bike surreys for rent. And, though the entrance isn't from Cypress Harbour property, there is a golf course that sort of wraps around most of the resort (access to Marriott's Grande Pines Golf Course is on International Drive, a little less than 2 miles from the resort).

The location of the resort is nice. An I-4 West exchange is right around the corner for easy access to the various parts of Disney; similarly, nearby Turkey Lake Road provides easy access to Universal; and SeaWorld is actually reasonably walkable from the resort. There are many restaurants within a short drive and the Premium Outlets (Vineland) are 2 1/2 to 3 miles away.

To top it off, we've always found the staff at this resort to be the nicest and most accommodating of any resort in the area (the small staff at Marriott's Sabal Palms resort are pretty special, too), at least of those we've stayed at.

We stayed here last Feb when my mom traded in her timeshare (also marriott) and loved it!
My hubby and i are also going solo in Oct, and we decided to book again here -- We are going to do Disney 2 days (epcot food and wine! and mk) but we also want to do other things in the area.. so this is perfect.
The units are beautiful, the staff was great - especially the activity staff! If you get the chance and they offer the adult mixology class, do it!! so fun! don't mistake it for the kiddie version though, you will be bummed.. lol.
We also booked here again for next feb 2015, we are doing another girls trip and my daughter and i will be doing the princess 10k at disney.
There is a grocery store about a mile away, so you can stock up -- the resort doesn't offer breakfast, which for me was strange -- i am not use to timeshare, as i have always stayed on disney property.. they sell food (expensive) in the marketplace, but do not offer a counter service prepared breakfast -- except the Krispy Kreme donuts they had,, gave those a go a few times! LOL
Also, the spa is wonderful -- if you can take advantage of the "hands" or "feet" reflexology class (i think it was like $5 or something) if they offer it -- do it! My mom and i were the only ones in the feet class, and we got mini massages on our feet and got to spend some relaxing time outside in the back of the spa where the private hot tub is. I would like to book something for my hubby and i this time.

Anyway, you will not regret this choice... have fun!

Thank-you for your reply. Sounds like you've had great fun at Cypress Harbour with more great plans ahead! The resort sounds perfect for what hubby and I are looking for right now. We usually stay on-site when we visit and actually are considering a couple of days there first to do Epcot and MK (like you are!).
But then we would like to move to a villa for the first time and just enjoy the space and resort atmosphere! We don't want to worry about renting a car so we will just get cabs for shopping and then use I-trolley for exploring.
I'm a little disappointed that the Island Pool area will be closed during our visit because the pictures look so beautiful. I wasn't sure if that was the main pool and walking area for the resort which would significantly affect our stay. I'm convinced it's the perfect resort for us anyway, though, given all the wonderful activities you describe and all the other amenities I've learned about. Will definitely check out the mixology class (adult of course lol!) and reflexology sounds awesome!
Thanks again for your help and enjoy your up-coming visits too!
