I booked Marriotts Cypress Harbour for a great price as a Getaway through II for the last week of Sept. I am also thinking of possibly booking it for a Getaway week in Dec. I have some questions about the second bedroom/bathroom. I have looked at the floorplan and am having a hard time being able to figure out if there is a closet in the second bedroom?
There's a closet. If you're looking at the floor plan at the Marriott Vacation Club website (
http://www.marriottvacationclub.com/vacation-resorts/marriott-cypress-harbour/amenities.shtml), the closet is in the lower left corner of the second bedroom just to the left of the sofabed. The drawing shows what looks like an open space with a couple of short walls. In reality there are closet doors fronting that space.
Also would the second bedroom be a tight fit for 2 adults and a 16 year old on the sleeper sofa? It looks like there might not be much room to move when you open the sleeper sofa in that room.
Yep, tight fit for walking around the room with the sofabed open. When we use that we always fold up and close the sofabed when it's not in use.
If we go in Dec. it would be myself and my DH and our DD16 along with my sister and her DH. Maybe we would be best off having DD sleep on the sleeper sofa in the living room?
I would think so. Televisions in both bedrooms so you wouldn't have to all sit on her (sofa)bed during if anyone decided to watch tv.
Is the second bathroom in the bedroom or is it accessible without having to go into the guest bedroom?
The second bedroom and the second bathroom share a short hallway that's off the main entry area into the villa but they are independent of one another. You do not have direct access to that bathroom from the second bedroom - you have to leave the second bedroom, enter the hall and then enter the bathroom.
This is the first time I have booked a Getaway week through II, am I able to call the resort and request a location? If so when is a good time to do this?
Sure you can. You'll have a reservation number for the stay and the resort will be able to see that a few weeks before your check-in date. In the past we've just called the resort a couple of weeks before our check-in. This year we received an email message from the resort 23 days before our check-in date inviting us to fill out a Vacation Experience Planning form online to make our requests. This worked out really well for location request, a spa reservation for my wife at a different Marriott resort and a dinner reservation. Regardless of method used to make your request I'd observe that the staff at Cypress Harbour has been extremely accommodating to our requests over the years. If you don't receive an email message, you can call the resort at the number on your II paperwork or send an email to
cypressharbour.ram@vacationclub.com.
Our flight doesn't get in until the evening of check in day so we won't be checking in until about 8pm, should I be concerned we might not get a nice location? We don't like to have our room on the first floor other than that I don't know if there is a certain location to request over others?
I'd suggest that you request a building that is located on the lake - those would be buildings 50-55 and 60 through 65 (there is no building 61). Buildings 62 and 63 are on either side of the activities area and near the nice though small Bayside Pool area, building 65 is nicely located for access to the Island Pool area and not far from the clubhouse area using the bridge across the lake, and buildings 52 and 53 are on either side of the clubhouse/Clubhouse Pool area/Marketplace store/Pavilion Bar/Galley Grill/Pizza Hut Express complex. But, regardless of which building you end with, if you're in any of those buildings around the lake you won't be far from some of the resort features. Cypress Harbour is compact and an easy resort to walk from end to end and amenity to amenity.
Coming in late in the day may mean that you get the leftovers if others are requesting what you wanted and get there earlier. But, as I said, this is a really accommodating group of people at Cypress Harbour - generally, if they can help you with what you want you'll get it or something close to it. FWIW, we always request an end unit on a high floor with a preference for the top floor (top floor: no noise above us and end unit: no noise from one side). All buildings have elevators but they only four stories at the most so it isn't too bad. I'd suggest that you pick out three or four buildings that you think would work for your family, request a villa in any one of them along with your floor request. That'll give the reservations staff something to work with and make it more likely that you'll get something that you've requested.
Good luck and have fun, Cypress Harbour is a very nice resort.
