We are looking at staying at either the Cypress Harbour or the Horizon in May. Has anyone stayed at both or either one and has any feedback on them (the good and the bad)? We have a 4yo ds and a 21mth old dd so I'd like them to be somewhat child-friendly. Also, how clean are the rooms? I read that the Horizon is fairly new but in the photos Cypress Harbour looks a little nicer.

This is the first time we've stayed at a Vacation Club type accommodation, so any tips would be appreciated. Are there any big differences with them and a full service hotel beside housekeeping and room service?

TIA

Tina

I have stayed at both. You really can't go wrong with either, both are very family oriented. For the ages of your children I'd probably go with Horizons as the pool area is much more geared to young kids, big pirate ship with little slides and zero entry, also a mini waterpark type area with water cannons and such.

Thanks Harryo, it's good to hear that we can't go wrong with either and you were happy with both places. Are there things that you would suggest we should bring, like paper towels etc. I don't think we will be cooking full meals much. Do you bring your own shampoo and soap?

Thanks, Tina

Hi,

Be sure you look carefully at the bed mix for the two resorts. Can't remember the difference right now, but one of them had more beds.

We stayed at Horizons the first week of December. My kids ages were 11, 10, 7, and 6. They loved everything about Horizons. The pool area and water park area were awesome. I had a hard time getting them out. The resort is very practically arranged so that everything is located within close proximity (no long hauls dragging kids to the pool). Another consideration for a family of small children is resort size. Horizons is still under construction (we were never bothered by any construction while there) and at the time of our visit there were only about 100 units. Much more relaxing and personal than some of the larger resorts. The rooms were immaculate and nicely decorated. Yes, you will need to bring your own shampoo (just a small hotel size sample was provided). However, there was plenty of dishsoap, dishwasher detergent, paper towels, and trash bags under the kitchen sink. If you did decide to cook any meals, everything you would need for food preparation is at hand. I cooked at least one meal daily and found everything I needed (measuring cups/spoons, collandar, mixing bowls, pots/pans, spatulas, knives, etc.). If you would like any further info, please feel free to pm me or ask.
