Not sure if this is the right place to post this question or not,
but will try it on this site.

Need reviews or comments from the people that have stayed at the Courtyard Hotel by the Disney Market Place recently. There has been so many thoughts on this location and was wondering what those of you that have stayed there lately thought. Any thoughts on where to stay in this Hotel as far a room location?

Hi! We stayed there this past November. We had a rate of $25 per night (post 9/11) through Dreams Unlimited. We requested a tower room, high floor, overlooking Downown Disney and got it.

The good....

The room was very spacious , plenty of drawer/closet space/hangers. The sink was outside the bathroom (one inside, too). There was a coffeemaker, free coffee, iron, iron board, hairdryer, safe. Nice terrace. Our view also looked over the pool area.

The lobby was nice . There was a Disney store, disney info desk, bell services.
The lobby itself was clean, with a snack bar, lounge area with bar, tables with umbrellas (the lobby is an atrium style with glass elevator). They served a hot and cold breakfast buffet for $6.95 starting very early.

Pool was fine- one heated, one not, a kiddie pool, hot tub

The bad...

The room was UGLY. VERY plain furniture, decor, ugly carpet. I even got mad at my DH when he got some video of the room.

The bus service in DD is not great. You share the bus with all the other hotels, so I can imagine how long it takes to just get going! We had our car, so it didn't affect us.
They did have a rental car desk in the hotel.

All in all.. an OK place.

We stayed at the ASMo in Jan at $49 and I thought this was a much better deal, even at twice the price and no extra room amenities (coffeemaker, etc.). The rooms were cute, pool area and food court were very clean and convenient, bus servcie great!
Just lots more FUN!

7 days till CBR!!!!

Hi -
We stayed at Courtyard for 2 weeks last August - it's a long, sad story, but we did 4 days onsite at POFQ, then got the marriott rooms for $29 a night after that. We were only supposed to be there a week, but my DH took ill Day 2 and spent the remainder of the time in Celebration Hospital until he passed away.
That said - it was a comedown to leave property, and we were originally assigned to the tower 11th floor, I think. The room never ever got cool enough. Day 3 they moved us to a 3rd floor room in the pool annex - which was cooler, newer, balcony view of trees and pool - very very lovely.
It was adequate and convenient, since when we weren't at a park or the hospital, the kids were in the pool and I could somewhat see from the room. Free coffee all day. Good poolbar food. Restaurant so-so and pricey, except for the breakfast buffet - well worth it and the bus stop is right outside the door. No problem with the buses for us - though it's tough at the end of the day with extra stops. The buses were just as comfy-cool as Disney buses.
Hotel staff everywhere went out of their way for us - we got passes, gifts, and they kept the rate at an absurdly low $29. Took messages day & night and got anything we needed immediately. They do seem to try harder for an offsite property.
No, it is not Disney. Don't stay onsite and then go offsite - do the reverse if you need to. I know we had special circumstances, but it was just wonderful for us during a very difficult time. Any other questions, feel free to e-mail me.

Give this post a bump for good luck and hopefully a few more thoughts or reviews

melomouse,
So sorry for your loss! The staff there was exceptional. Housekeeping could not have been better, the front desk, bell services, and even the store employees were always cheerful and very professional!

Some snippets from my trip report from September, 2001:

We checked into the Courtyard by Marriott, made sure they had my Marriott Rewards Number, dropped our luggage and hopped the bus in front of the hotel. We had prepaid for the room for two nights at $20.01 per night using a discount I had found at mousesavers.com

Our room overlooked Downtown Disney and the staff in the breakfast buffet were out of this world! The breakfast was great and a good deal. There was complimentary coffee available during the day, which I grabbed before heading out to the parks. This hotel might turn into my 'affordable' stop that I stay either coming or going on a trip in order to keep lodging costs down.

We also stayed there for 29.00 a night for the first two nights in December.

I sort of liked it for a couple of reasons:
1) We can do park commando style for the first day or two and my daughter can receive immediate-park-gratification. I don't worry about all the money we are spending for the hotel I'm spending NO time in. Later we move to a Disney hotel and take that third day to relax!

2) It was really close to the character store outlet where we do all of our shopping!

3) I am a Marriot rewards member!

They were refurbishing rooms while we were there in December. The rooms seemed a little bigger than the WL rooms.

this thread was moved from another board, so let me give it a
bump on this board to see if we have possibly missed
something on this board. From the hits apparently others
have some interest in this thread, as I do. So if others
have some extra thoughts regarding this property please
if you would share them with others, it would be appreciated.

Thanks:smooth:
