Me and my fiance would like to get married why we are in WDW, but do not want to have a "wedding" per say. We would both rather just sign the papers and then spend our money on the "honeymoon" and have more to spend and enjoy. Is there a courthouse where we can just go in and fill out the paperwork and then go "honeymoon" in WDW? We plan on staying in WDW resort, and neither of us have ever been so dont know the area well. thanks everyone!

Hi TazLynx2002...

First off, let me start off with the commercial: Disney makes a big deal out of weddings on property. Most of the people in this thread are spending huge amounts of money on their dream wedding. Sometimes people get flustered by seeing someone wanting to get married on Disney Property without paying the Disney Tithe.

It sounds from your post that you would not care if this was was done on property or not, and you really don't care about it being a JP wedding; so I would suggest going to the Kissime Court House and getting it done. You could rent a car and drive over there. There are also a lot of chapels in Orlando that can take care of the details, or even a b&B with a Turnkey deal out there. You might try a travel agent first, you also might ask on the Budget boards if anyone knows a good answer. If all else fails, send me a PM and I can hook you up with someone who has a service that might be willing to set something up (They normally handle the logistics of a special surprise, but the owner is a romantic and might be willing to do the planning for you....

I am not familiar with the requirements of FL for a marriage license, but most states have a waiting period, and you might have to appear in person in order to sign the forms...

I hope this helps!!!

DH and I did something along those lines. We still had a wedding, but it wasn't on WDW property. We got married in a little wedding chapel in Kissimmee. It was just the two of us.

When we were at the courthouse getting our marriage license (no waiting period, by the way), we saw several couples who just did the JP thing. They were called into a little room, said their I Do's, and were off! I'm not sure what the cost is for that kind of ceremony...

After our wedding, DH and I spent the rest of our week at WDW. We had a blast!! For our wedding and honeymoon, we probably spent less than $2500...we may have gone cheap...lol...but we certainly had a FABULOUS time!!

I would call the Orange County courthouse, I'm sure that you could have a JP ceremony there. I believe that there is no waiting period for non-Florida residents. Just be sure to find out what the required documentation is so that you can bring it with you.

As far as people getting "flustered" goes, the rule set by Disney is that all on-property weddings must go through Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings department. That's their rule, and it is enforced by them. But since you want an off-property wedding that won't apply to you. :)

thank you all for your input, and yes I was looking for more an offsite marriage, I will look into it that way we can just have a fabulous honeymoon disney style :)

Florida residents have a 3 day waiting period in case anyone wants to know.
