"Buying Naked"-watch that one too! Recently I read an article (I forget where) that there seems to be a current fad of having "Naked" shows.

Peopple are either desperate to get on television for their 15 minutes of fame, or they are desperate for love.

Arranged marriages ... Why go backwards?

I don't think I'd want naked people walking through my house. Ewww

Jamie the one marrying Doug was on The Bachelor.
Google Ben and Jamie awkward kiss, its painful to watch.
I can't believe they put her on this show after she did the bachelor.
They are pushing it as a real experiment of matching people who are perfect matches on paper and then they put a reality ***** on the show.

I KNEW she looked familiar!! I remember her now. She did the embarrassing lap dance thing with Ben. Ugh.

I thought the show was kind of interesting. I like the African American couple (can't remember their names right now). They both seemed like really nice, down to earth people. I hope their marriage works out.

I confess to being totally hooked on this show!

I find it to be a really interesting concept, and, as crazy as it sounds, I imagine it could work provided that both partners are on the same page. If you were paired with someone with similar backgrounds and values, and a compatible personality, and you were both committed to staying together- couldn't you make a marriage work? And wouldn't love be very likely to follow? As long as neither one of you saw divorce as a real option- it seems like you could make it work. I've known several people in arranged marriages, and they have all been happy and committed to each other.

As for Jamie being on the bachelor, I don't necessarily see her as a reality tv show person. When you listen to her talk about her childhood and her background, it seems more like she really wants a family than anything else. And, if she was just about being on tv, I don't think she would have had the breakdown at the altar because her plan would just be to get the divorce at the end of the show so it wouldn't have been that much of an emotional deal. But, I hope she really does give it a chance since it seems like his personality and his close family would be a good fit for what she has said she wants.

I think all three couples are pretty cute- I'm interested to see what happens!

I'm loving this show! I think it's a really cool idea for people open to the idea to an unconventional arranged marriage.

I saw a commercial for this show a couple wks ago on what was then Bio channel now FYI channel, so I set up the DVR. I told my cousin about it in California & she set up DVR, we've been talking how how much we like the show.

I see its based on a Danish show, but i cant find how to watch that show online & it wasnt on netflix. Anyone see the Danish version? I guess 2 of the 3 couples are still married from that show.

I'm looking forward to tuesdays episode. popcorn::

Ugh. Doug and Jamie's wedding was just painful to watch. She is so obviously not attracted to him. He seems like a nice guy, but I think she's probably used to dating buff bad boys. He may be too nice for her taste. The fact that he is not good-looking in any traditional sense is just sour icing on her cake.

I loved it! To quote Doug, it "grows on you like a fungus." :rotfl:

What was everyone's thoughts?

I have something else at this time but intend to see it later in the week.

And I just checked my Direct TV guide and it appears this show is on A&E on Sat at noon CST for those of you who don't get FYI.

It was very painful to watch, but I think that once the reception starts going she finally starts to relax. I think that they will be a good fit.

The previews for next week look bad, like lots of fighting, but it could be editing....

I want to just fast forward to next week, and then the week after...

I think Doug and Jamie will make it. He's being so patient with her, it's really adorable. I think that she'll come around to that. Especially because it seems like he has so many things that she wants.

My prediction is that Monet and Vaughn don't make it, but I think the other couples do.

Going on a honeymoon has got to be even more awkward than just the wedding, so I'm really looking forward to how that turns out!

I haven't watched last night's episode yet, but I just finished watching the "Casting Call" episode. Am I the only one who's not totally freaked out by people using this method to find potential love? They're working with people who are experienced professionals, being interviewed, etc. Seems to me that this is really no worse than going on the Bachelor/ette. It seems to me that people who "marry at first sight" might have just as good a chance at a long-term relationship. Or have I watched too much reality TV?

Considering that many of our ancestors married in somewhat similar fashion, I don't think this is toooo terribly bizarre. Back in the old, old days, nobility and royalty married off their daughters and sons for the soul sake of forging business and political relationships with not a single thought of love, respect, or compatibility. The woman, especially, had no rights in the transaction; she just learned to endure, no matter what kind of man she was forced to marry. And there was no turning back, no back door divorce for her. If she was extremely fortunate, she and her spouse found lasting love, but many couples were horribly mis-matched.

I don't think I would be able to put myself in the hands of "experts" to choose a spouse; there's no accounting for taste, after all. Heck, I have a hard enough time choosing books at Barnes & Noble.
