Marriage: The Trip Report - Update 2/28 - Final Thoughts & Link to Disneyland TR!

I burst out laughing when you said the bird swooped down and almost hit Joe. :lmao:

The birds at Disney have no fear of humans.what.so.ever.

I have never been inside the Yacht Club either. It looks beautiful. I'm slowly but surely making my way around to all the hotels.

Love the Yacht Club pics...I've never been there either, though we've stayed at the Beach Club. I even recommended YC to some friends who wanted to stay at a "nicer" place (we were at Pop) when we went last year for Halloween because I figured it was like Beach Club just fancier...we never made it over there to visit them, though, we just met up other places...but they WERE happy with it, so I guess it was a good suggestion. :thumbsup2

Can't wait to see your pics when you stay there; I simply LOVE the Epcot resorts area!!

Too funny about those birds!!! :rotfl:

I'm still following along..just had to tell you that last night I was researching resorts in planning for May 2012, and I looked up BCV on youtube. I clicked randomly on one of the first few videos that came up with my search, and a couple minutes in I recognized your cute little Henry! Small e-world, huh?

On our 1st trip with Claire, while walking in Epcot we saw so many people give divebombed by the "mine mine's". There was a french frie stand near by ( I think it had McDonalds fries) and they would wait for people to walk away from the counter and then just attack. We saw one person basically just throw all of hers on the ground to get them off her.

Yikes! Those birds did mean business! The sight of them sitting there on the railing just watching would have unnerved me a little bit!:laughing:

One question for you. He has a necklace on, is that one of those tags that you can put information on? I've seen another TR with a child wearing one of them. It's a really clever idea and I will probably do this for Madelyn. TIA!

I love that picture of Henry in front of the Yacht Club! Looking at those YC pics is getting me all excited for our August trip - just a pity we'll miss you by just a couple of days.
And I too am interested to find out if/how you tag Henry to keep him safe? Does he have your phone number anywhere on him?
There's a good chance my girls will be on foot more, and spending less time in the stroller, and I'm thinking about ways to help them if they get lost - like maybe buying a lanyard and sticking our details on the back?

I agree - great picture!

Thank you! :goodvibes

I'll ride along with you :thumbsup2 Or I can pick you up. I don't mind driving in the city.

:woohoo: Sounds like a good plan to me! Now we just need Earl to open!

ya wet trip but one you would never forget

Exactly! Those kind of trips often make the best memories.

I know firsthand how horrible those birds can be! I grew up on the west coast and we would have to avoid these dive bombing creatures whenever we went to the beach or Sea World. I know it's not very nice, but we nickednamed them "rats with wings"!!:rotfl:

Yes, that's exactly what it is! We bought it in DHS, across from TSMM, at a machine in the little "gift shop" area. I think the tag was $10 and the chain was $2. He REALLY likes that necklace and it makes me feel a bazillion times better. Henry is not a runner in general, but as he gets older he's getting more curious and brave! The other day at the beach I took my eyes off him for a minute and he was GONE. I completely panicked! He was close-by, and I spotted him quickly - thankfully!

:lmao: that is what we call the pigeons here! Rats with wings!

joining in late, but I'm loving your TR!

:welcome: Thank you!!!

Wow Yacht Club looks amazing! :thumbsup2 Can't wait to see more pics when you visit soon!

Aaw love the pics of Henry outside of Yacht Club - he looks soo cute! :cutie:

Oh no on Joe almost getting hit by one of those crazy birds  I can see how it would be funny to be the one watching the drama though!

Love your cups and measuring spoons purchase!

I am VERY much looking forward to staying at the Yacht Club! It's so fancy though, I might feel a bit out of place!

It was HILARIOUS to see the bird swoop down, but I felt terrible for Joe - it completely took him by surprise!

I love that photo of Henry too! He is such a little cutie.:goodvibes

It is amazing how different the Yacht and Beach Clubs are, isn't it? And yet similar at the same time. I liken it to two brothers - the familiarial resemblance is there, so you know they are related, but they each march to the beat of their own drum. The more mature and sophisticated older brother, and the wild and crazy party boy.

I like them both for different reasons. I loved staying at the Yacht Club on a solo visit during a conference when it was just me. However, when I am travelling with my family, I prefer to hang out in the more relaxed atmosphere of the Beach Club.;) Either way though, you can't go wrong

And of course, both brothers share that young, hot plaything called Stormalong Bay!:rotfl:

Exactly! That is how I viewed the YC & BC too. They are similar, yet so different! I think I will feel similarly with the Yacht Club...the more relaxed atmosphere of the BC is always better for the little ones!

:lmao: about SAB! I hope I can get the boys into that young, hot plaything, they have been itchin' to see her again! ;)

Henry wanted to include some smilies -->

pirate::surfweb::rotfl:

I feel like it has been forever since I have been on the boards!!! Love seeing you had some new updates!! That pic of Henry in front of BWV is just so so cute!!

Count me in for a NYC Dis meet too! Hey MEK I will meet you at the train station ;)

I feel like it's been forever since I've been on the boards too - even though I'm on daily for one thing or another, it's rarely to READ or post!

Our NYC meet is getting bigger & bigger! :hyper:

Oh my gosh those took me forever to find. Some day I need to tag photos so I can find what I want faster. :rotfl:

I love both of these.

Looks like he has done this before. All that ice cream has made him a bit pudgy.

That bathroom is ADORABLE! And I believe I recall seeing them on your TR previously now that I see them again! You are too kind to go hunting for them! I need to tag mine too....I run into the same dilemma.

:lmao: about the bird being pudgy! I bet you are RIGHT!

I love these too - I have them both and use them as much as possible!

Ahh I hate being stalked by birds for food! It always freaks me out!

Love your pics of the Boardwalk resort area! Probably my favorite place in WDW

The birds can be very, very aggressive. Usually they don't bother me too much, but this was absurd!

I'm with ya on the Boardwalk area - LOVE IT. I cannot wait to stay in the area again I missed it in May!

A kind CM showed us a hidden Mickey on the big globe: it was somewhere in the South Pacific, I think.

Oooh, I'll have to try and remember that and see if I can find it!

Oh my beloved Yacht Club! I  that lobby. Just looking at pictures of it makes me feel relaxed and serene.

It's a bit fascinating how a duplicate layout can feel so very very different. Different decor, different mix, different vibe altogether!

Adorable picture of Henry. I'd be like one of those birds right now if I saw someone with a Mickey bar. I'd be all over it :goodvibes

Yes! It's so similar and familiar, yet completely different! It's beautiful. I VERY much look forward to staying there.

I'm with ya on the Mickey Bar. One month and I'll be enjoying them again!

We took those boats last December but over in the Seven Seas Lagoon. We booked the fireworks cruise and had the music pumped in. It was so nice to see the fireworks from a different perspective and the boat driver was so nice. She shared a bunch of interesting facts about the MK resorts I didn't previously know. It's so nice and I'd highly recommend!

:cloud9: I have read reviews of the cruises, and all of them are positive - I so look forward to doing it someday! It might be a future surprise for Joe on a trip. :scratchin

Hi hi!!

Henry couldn't be any cuter - what a doll!!!

Yacht Club is lovely!! We walked through there last trip & I did feel not fancy enough. :)

Those birds are creepy!!! Ewwww!

Those birds looked super creepy! My DH has not been a fan of Disney birds since one swooped down and pooped on him at the MK. I thought it was hilarious, him, not so much.

Glad you got to eat your mickey bar without too much bird interference!

It sounds like you guys had a wonderfully relaxing morning, the kind I never seem to get around to at Disney! ;)

Before I do more replies, I just gotta say...

ONE MONTH UNTIL DISNEY!!!!!!!!!!

I'm getting soooooooo excited about the Agent Education Program - and everything else of course. :goodvibes

:dance3::yay::yay::dance3::yay::yay:

I agree with you on the "I love this picture" of Henry. He looks so cute and happy to be at Walt Disney World.

Lacey can not stand the "dive bomb birds" that congregate at Disney. They've snatched fries right out of her hand before and one landed on John's shoulder a few years ago.

Great update, Brook! I love that picture of Henry in front of the Yacht Club. :goodvibes

Those are some crazy birds. My darling husband loves them and talks to them all the time when we are at Marco. I had a bag of pretzels with me and they were surrounding me in my chair.

I've already emailed Mark the picture of the measuring cups...told him I MUST HAVE THEM! You are going to get me in trouble. :lmao::lmao:

Your little guy is so adorable!!!

Oh man...Disney birds seriously are like vultures! Last year my husband bought a funnel cake at Epcot...we sat down on this little ledge wall thing near Japan to enjoy it.

Soon ducks started surrounding us!!! I said "Well if we don't feed them they will give up and go away!" Or so I thought! One brave duck flew up and took the WHOLE thing plate and all right off of my husband's lap!!!! :scared1: He still talks about the fact that I didn't buy him another one! Ha! :lmao:

Thank you! :cutie:

OH MY WORD! That is crazy about the duck taking his entire funnel cake!!!! Hilarious, but completely freaky at the same time! :rotfl2: Did you ask Disney to get you a new one? I'm sure they would have!

I had a giant black bird steal a waffle fry out of my hand at Kennedy Space Center. It's years later and I can still feel the claw on my hand. Ish....!

Hi Brook!

In my long quest to catch up, I picked your report first! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I will start from here with my comments but I wanted to say I loved your pic from the other night with the Brazilian tour guide! LOL

OK... I'm off to Liesa's report- wish me luck! :wizard:

Tim! Good to see you!

I cannot even imagine how far behind you are on Liesa's. I'm on the DIS daily and still end up 20 pages behind on hers!

Ah, the Yacht Club. No longer my favorite (supplanted by the Poly and the GF), but still one of the best places to be!

Also -- NYC DIS-meet -- I'm in!

I am so looking forward to trying the YC. And the Poly. And the GF! The Poly and GF dreams are a bit far off yet, but someday!

Have you heard when the Earl is supposed to open? Our meet is going to take over the place! :hyper:

I burst out laughing when you said the bird swooped down and almost hit Joe. :lmao:

The birds at Disney have no fear of humans.what.so.ever.

I have never been inside the Yacht Club either. It looks beautiful. I'm slowly but surely making my way around to all the hotels.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought it was funny! It was HILARIOUS! I felt so bad laughing at him, but it was like slow-mo seeing the bird approach and almost attack! I can still see the moment in my mind's eye! :rotfl2:

I am doing the same with the hotels! I have a LONG way to go, but I will get them all eventually. I've done one night at Pop (will be more after this August trip), ASMovies, CSR, AKL, WL, SSR, AKV, BWV, and BLT. After this trip I can add OKW and YC too.

The girls and I sat in the kiddie TV area (which you can barely see the edge of in the right of your picture, blue chairs, right before you go down that hall) for about twenty-five minutes last Thursday waiting for Jill and John to get back from sombrero shopping in Mexico. I know the high class CM's behind the counter wondered when the hillbillies were ever going to get their stuff and go home. ;)

That whole area - Boardwalk, Beach Club, and Yacht Club - is just beautiful with the awesome landscaping and the water.

:rotfl:

That is good to hear that your friends were happy with the Yacht Club! It looks very fancy and upscale. The rooms look stunning! I'll be taking a million pictures. And my roommate is Jen, who also takes a million pictures, so between us, we'll have the entire YC photographed probably!

I love the Epcot area resorts too. This past trip in May I really enjoyed my stay at Movies, but when I went over to meet some DISers at Cape May, walking from DHS, my heart skipped a beat as I rounded the corner. I am SPOILED.

I'm still following along..just had to tell you that last night I was researching resorts in planning for May 2012, and I looked up BCV on youtube. I clicked randomly on one of the first few videos that came up with my search, and a couple minutes in I recognized your cute little Henry! Small e-world, huh?

That's awesome! I try to do a room tour of everywhere we stay. And while we haven't done BCV yet, you probably noticed the letters BCV were in a comment on one of my videos. I think I have SSR, Movies, BLT, and BWV up. I'll definitely get Pop, YC and OKW this trip!

I have been inside a BCV 1-bedroom (a fellow DISer, wigdoutdismom). They are nice, but they do need a refurb. It's not awful by ANY means, but just things showing wear. However, the location and the POOL make up for some of that stuff!

Exactly my thought: :scared1: I wonder if that is one of the big reasons they got rid of that fry stand? I did fish & chips during this Feb/March trip and they were swarming me though...it's just bad. I don't know what Disney could do to avoid it all though?

Yikes! Those birds did mean business! The sight of them sitting there on the railing just watching would have unnerved me a little bit!:laughing:

They do! I have a pic of one his his mouth open because he kept squawking at us, begging for ice cream. :sad2:

I love that picture of Henry in front of the Yacht Club! Looking at those YC pics is getting me all excited for our August trip - just a pity we'll miss you by just a couple of days.
And I too am interested to find out if/how you tag Henry to keep him safe? Does he have your phone number anywhere on him?
There's a good chance my girls will be on foot more, and spending less time in the stroller, and I'm thinking about ways to help them if they get lost - like maybe buying a lanyard and sticking our details on the back?

I am SO bummed I am going to be missing people by mere days. :headache: Thankfully, I do overlap with a few though - so that's good!

The necklace on Henry is his safety ID, and that is just why we bought it. As he gets older he spends less and less time in the stroller, and likes to be out and about. The necklace has his name on it, our address, and my cell phone number. He knows that if he can't find us, to find an adult and show them the tag, asking them to help find his Mommy. (ugh, just thinking about that brings tears to my eyes!) This year, I will teach him what the CMs look like - which he probably has already figured out...but, it's good to explain anyway! :goodvibes I also have begun the habit of taking his picture in the AM before we leave the room so I can show what he is wearing easily should he get separated.

The lanyard would work just the same, I've seen lots of kids with that on them. In May I saw kids with luggage tags sticking out the back of their shirts! But, you gotta do what you gotta do, right?

Hi hi!!

Henry couldn't be any cuter - what a doll!!!

Yacht Club is lovely!! We walked through there last trip & I did feel not fancy enough. :)

Those birds are creepy!!! Ewwww!

I didn't feel fancy enough either! I think, second to GF, it might be the fanciest!

The birds are icky. They just wait and watch!

Those birds looked super creepy! My DH has not been a fan of Disney birds since one swooped down and pooped on him at the MK. I thought it was hilarious, him, not so much.

Glad you got to eat your mickey bar without too much bird interference!

It sounds like you guys had a wonderfully relaxing morning, the kind I never seem to get around to at Disney! ;)

Oh no! He got pooped on! :lmao: That is awful...but funny!! Definitely an unforgettable moment!

It was a relaxing morning - all the days so far on this trip have totally been Joe Style. He was LOVIN' it.

I agree with you on the "I love this picture" of Henry. He looks so cute and happy to be at Walt Disney World.

Lacey can not stand the "dive bomb birds" that congregate at Disney. They've snatched fries right out of her hand before and one landed on John's shoulder a few years ago.

I showed Henry the calendar today of when we go again and he got very excited. I need to make a countdown today! :dance3:

Every time I hear a story of them landing on people I get shivers. YUCK! That's just ick! :sad2:

Yay for one month!!!!

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I'll be at a month tomorrow!

:banana::banana: Can you believe how quickly it's coming?!

 I can picture Mark talking to them! I'm glad to hear they aren't just crazy at Disney, but man...it can get to be a bit creepy when they get so close, can't it?!

:rotfl2: I'm happy to enable. ;) Don't worry Mark, they are cheap!!

The girls and I sat in the kiddie TV area (which you can barely see the edge of in the right of your picture, blue chairs, right before you go down that hall) for about twenty-five minutes last Thursday waiting for Jill and John to get back from sombrero shopping in Mexico. That whole area - Boardwalk, Beach Club, and Yacht Club - is just beautiful with the awesome landscaping and the water.

 you are so funny! Isn't that place fancy schmancy though? I will probably feel out of place for a couple days!
