Marriage Survive Cheating?

I think from your postings that your marriage has a great chance to survive and be better. I've lived thru it and for the first year or so afterwards it's kind of awkward and you are building trust again, but things are great now. We are celebrating our 25th anniv in May.

My DH was not with a one night stand though, he was seeing someone (from his previous job) for probably a year. So whether it's one night or a year there is still a chance. As long as you both want it.

Also we did not go to counseling, but we did start going to church. I'd say stick with your marriage...there's a lot worse out there. Your DH sounds like he really does love you. Life just threw you a wrench!

I do want it to work, and I truly believe w/ the way he's acting, being open, and what he's saying he does too. It's just I'm so afraid the hurt won't go away. I know it's still so new and fresh. I know we both need time. I'm just so afraid to go through this healing process to only have it all fail anyway- and then that starts a whole new round of pain and hurt.

I would think it is definitely going to take time. A lot of time. And effort.

The question is about a marriage surviving....yes...yes...yes....

But, it is a long road....and you have to forgive and deal with the real problems that led to this infidelity!!!

I will send prayers your way....
