HI All!

i need a little help. first some background. I am a first year medical student and my gf just started a career in business. my gf and I were at WDW for 10 days in may and loved it. i was thinking about proposing to her while there but i didnt bc i wanted to wait to see how things with school went and also we planned on marrying in my 4th year so i didnt think she would want to have a long engagement. (we have been together for 5 yrs already) however, after a month of school i realized that she is the one and i would drop everything for her and also during a conversation we had she said it wouldnt bother her being engaged for 3 yrs or so. Sooooo....i am going to propose to her before the end of the year. I want it to be really special but i figure my best chance passed me by in may.

So i was thinking of flying us down to WDW early 12/16 and returning late 12/17 (weekend only bc she cant take off from work). Do you think its feasible to do this? We dont have to do everything bc we were just there. I think I can get air/Disney hotel/ and tix for $925.

1)I know its busy that time of year so is there anything special i should do for arrangements? Also what would be a dont miss? Do we need special tix?

2) Whats the best place to propose with all the holiday atmosphere? I was thinking is front of the Castle or the Rose garden (she loves Cinderella) or maybe the Osbourne lights (she loves XMas lights)

Sorry for a long post but if I do this I really want to do it right. I would appreciate ANY ideas or helpful tips.

Ok i have to study so I have time with by baby tonight!

Just some info for you that may get the wheels turning.......

Every night they have a little ceremony before they turn on the lights for the Osbourne Lights in MGM.

I was just there in November and when those lights turn on it is absolutely breathtaking, it gives you chills.

So, if you are on one knee at the same time those lights turn on......wow.... that would be an amazing thing she would never forget!

I definately think a quick trip for that occasion would be feasible and totally worth your money! Go for it!! There is also a company that handles these exact things and they have amazing ideas........

http://giftsofalifetime.com/

they handle every last detail to make your occasion PERFECT!! check out their site!

P.S. if she said she doesn't mind waiting three years to get married......she is ready for that ring!! Go for it! :thumbsup2

First of all, congrats on your upcoming engagement. My DF is in his second year of med school, so I kind of know what you are going through.

I would recommend checking out this link http://www.mousesavers.com/wdwromance.html
There are may great ideas for proposal locations and ideas. The whole mousesavers site is wonderful for all kind of WDW info and deals.

I think it's wonderful that you are surprising your gf w/ a trip to WDW. Maybe you could get tix to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas party? Or, another idea would be to either go to dinner or stay at the Wilderness Lodge, very nice around Christmas time. You can go on a 30 min sleigh ride at the Wilderness Lodge before dinner. You are allowed to bring wine or hot cocoa with you. You have to make reservations for this in advance though. Sounds very romantic  DF and I are doing this when we go down for our planning session.

Good luck :)

Do you think you could fly down on Friday? There is a Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party that night at Magic Kingdom, but it does require a seperate ticket. It will totally put you in the Christmas spirit! They give out cocoa and cookies, make it snow on mainstreet (you could ask there!) have special Christmas parade. You could see if they are doing Candlelight processional at Epcot the night you are there.. they have candlelight packages, that include dinner (Le Cellier!) and vip seating for candlelight processional. You could propose before any of the fireworks at either MK or Epcot. You could try for ressies at Cinderella's table or another restaurant, maybe California Grill overlooking the Magic Kingdom - and call and have them prep a special dessert. When you make the reservation let them know that you will be proposing.

Off the beaten path, I think that they offer "sleigh" rides in the winter at Fort Wilderness or Wilderness lodge. Don't forget about the fireworks cruises .. if you can't get a private boat, check on the boards here, there is a fireworks cruise wishlist thread where you can share a boat with other dis'ers. And you can always propose on her fave ride.. at the top of splash mountain right before you take the plunge.. or maybe on Dumbo?

Christmas is our favorite time of year at Disney -- 5 years ago on December 17th we got engaged there, right before the fireworks show. DH2b hired a private tour guide @ MK for the day. He made up a story, saying we were randomly selected for a tour.. had a sheet made up and everything. There were personalized ears waiting for us at town hall. The tour guide took us all over the park telling us all about it, and taking us on our favorite rides. The tour ended by the rose garden right before the fireworks, where he proposed. This year on December 17th we are getting married!

Good luck!!

If she loves Cinderella, I'd say go for the castle. I think there'd be nothing more romantic than being proposed to there ;) (Although all proposals are special :) ) By the way, the 16th is my dad's birthday, so I'll think of you on that day! ;)

ok, i don't know how feasible this is, you'd have to call disney and find out, but it just popped into my head with all the talk about Cinderella. My husband and I went for dinner at CRT the first night of our honeymoon. The food is amazing, the atmosphere is wonderful, it's really just the whole package. During dinner the Fairy Godmother and Susie and Perla come out and meet&greet and perform a few songs with everyone. There was one point where she asked if there were any honeymooners and we were the only ones and she made such a big deal out of us that I was practically in tears. I think it would be amazing if you could work something out where she would ask "is there anyone who has a special question to ask?" while coming right by your table, and then you say "why yes" and get down on your knee and propose. Personally, I would be bawling, and you will have the whole dining room in tears i'm sure! There has to be a way that you can arrange this, i'm just not sure how. That gifts of a lifetime might be able to help, or just call CRT directly and see exactly how feasible this would be. It might even be cool if fairy godmother made a ring "magically appear" as a gift for your future DF, and then you ask. There are all sorts of things you could do, but that to me, with her loving cinderella, would be the most romantic thing ever.

In the september Magically Speaking newsletter they have this mentioned.
WDW arranges it at Cinderella's Castle. After dinnner they bring out a covered silver platter. Under the cover is rose petals and a glass slipper that holds the engagement ring. It sounds awesome. You also need to consider your girlfriends personality. Is she private or outgoing? If she is a social butterfly then picking a proposal in a public setting would be perfect......but if she is a private person than picking a spot when the christmas lights go off or being on a carriage ride would be more appropriate.
