Hello, are you out there somewhere? :)

The house we bought has nice landscaping. The back yard is large (for Florida) but he has a garden right in the center of it. I would have left it alone and continued with side plantings. He has in there a lot of decorative pots, a lemon tree, a banana tree and some sort of palm tree.

The catalogs say that some peonies will grow in Florida as will Iris, but my sister in St. Pete Beach says forget. She said she ordered a lilac that was supposed to grow in Florida, but it did nothing.

I will miss my peonies and iris soooo much. Does anyone have any thoughts? What about bougenvilla? How do roses do in Florida. There is a lot of fencing and I would like climbers. Do they take much care. There is an irrigation system, but no shade to speak of - just a little around the pool screening.

How are things going for you, now that you're settled in your new home?

Have you had a chance to do any new landscaping, or are you still making plans?

I hope we hear from you!

Hi - we are in but I haven't done anything. I bought a bunch of plants to put in the screen enclosure that protects the pool, but they have to be water everyday. It's so HOT that I can't work outside. I understand that daylilies will do well here and I will buy some from Gilbert H. Wild. He is on the net, but the best prices come from his regular mailings. He sends great daylilies - often for as little as $2.00 . Wonderful peonies as well for you northeners. He also has iris and hostas. The qualify and service are great.

A bright spot - my daughter entered a drawing at the mall and won - and gave to me - free housecleaning every other week for a year!!!!

Mowing the grass is a pain in the neck compounded by the fact that the mover broker our lawn mower and it has been in the shop for 3 weeks. I am using the riding mower and the weed wacker, but it really isn't a good lawn for the tractor. Too many little things in the middle of the lawn. The lawn has a lot of crab grass in it. The lawn service recommended killing all grass and sodding it with something else. Can't possibly afford that. I've never been a big lawn person anyway - just like my flowers.
Bought a mandeville (sp?) vine in a pot that is doing just great.

Thanks for the inquiry. Just got the computer hooked up last week.

Remember, I am here if anyone wants to stay while they are at DW.

Marlasmom nice to hear you are getting settled. We have missed you.

Can't wait to hear all about life in Florida.

It's great to hear from you Barbara! :)

Very cool about the cleaning service, how nice that your DD entered your name! :)

Are you planning on attending DisCon? It would be nice to meet you!
