Sunday 19th August

We are finally ready to hit the parks. It is tradition that we go to Animal Kindgom first but this year we let Kirsty chose and she picks Animal Kingdom.

As there is just the three of us this year the plan is to go the parks in the morning and go on the main rides (which we are not fed up with) leave at lunchtime and spend the afternoon chilling out at the resort and have a nice drink and meal in the evenings.

The first thing we do when we get to Animal Kingdom is to get a fastpass for Everest. We then go onto my favourite ride here Dinosaur which is as good as ever.

We notice there is no queue for Pooh and friends and get some photos. Unfortuately I do not put the flash on and the first two are a bit dark

This one is a bit better

Tough to be a bug next which is always great.

We then do the jungle walk tour which we have never done before and absolutely love the bats.

We can now get a fastpass for the rapids. We stop and watch the monkeys

It is getting very hot and cool down with some iced tea and coffee drinks. We sit on a bench and have a very enjoyable time just soaking in the atmosphere.

Everest still makes me feel a bit yucky. The river rapids are good and we get very wet. We walk back to the car not taking the tram in an effort to dry off and manage easily in the heat.

Back to the resort I take some photos of Mark and Kirsty on the balcony

We go to pool but for the first time ever I have to sit under the umbrella which is unheard of for me. I usually can't get enough of the sun and even the pool was too warm to cool down in!!

Not sure if it is me still being a bit ill or the August heat but we decide we will definately not put ourselves through this again and are now sure we will not go back in August again.

We get ready to go out and I make the nightly ritual to get the ice bucket for our drinks. We are all feeling the effects of the sun and can only manage the walk to downtown disney tonight and stop at the first restaurant we come to which is rainforst cafe. We are safari members here which means we can jump the queue. I am just pleased to sit down.

Mark has the steak and lobster to go with his beer

I pick foolishly and choose the not very nice crab burger to go with my vodka and diet coke. Its not often I leave anything but have to with this choice. I am so pleased Kirsty can't manage all her wrap and eat this instead.

We are very glad we got our room changed as it is only a five minute walk back to the room and we all feel tired.

A few drinks to wind us down and off to bed thinking about our trip to Islands of Adventures tomorrow.

I guess it's an optical illusion Sue, but Mark looks like he's got one of those huge Party 7 cans in the last photo! :cool1:

I know what you mean about the heat. Although I actually coped with it better then I thought I would, I don't think I'd go again in August if there was an alternative.

Now that's what I call a holiday Sue, you've got to find time to relax as well as go mad in the parks

Another great day

Mandy :)

Sue, DH would totally agree with you - he found the heat too much as well. We noticed the same thing about the SSR pool - the water was warm, we were expecting to jump in and cool off but it wasn't very refreshing at all.

We're August veterans and while it is hot it's usually manageable but this year was the exception. It was hotter than a hot day in hell the whole time we were there. The heat was draining and we rarely had any energy by evening time.

We're back next summer so I'm hoping it won't be as hot
