Mariott Anaheim Hotel, yay or nay??

First trip to DL and we are soooo confused!!

We have enough Mariott points to stay for 5 nights. Is the Mariott Anaheim Hotel on Convention Way a good place to stay or is there another Mariott property closer that would serve us better?

We have stayed at the fairfield inn of Anaheim part of marriot hotels, it's a nice hotel all you do is walk down the block, cross the street and follw the patch to the main entrance of DL

I am pretty sure you have to pay $20 a day for parking (if you have a car). I work for Marriott, so I'd say go for it. Most hotels are very nice and well-run.

Toodles, as to the Fairfield...is it an outside entrance? I think I saw that one on TripAdvisor and thought it had great reviews, but I was wary of the outside entrance. Did you feel safe? I've never been to California, and don't know what to expect.

Pumpkin, we will have a car, but since we are using points, we don't mind paying about $100 for a stay. Thanksfor that info. (We love Mariott properties, BTW. Dh is Platinum...LOTS of work travel.)

Are there better, closer propeties that we should be looking at? What about the Courtyard?

The closest and only walkable Marriott property is the Fairfield. All others will require the use of a shuttle. I personally would go for the convenience of a walking distance hotel. My hotel of choice is the HoJo which is right next to the Fairfield, and I have always felt very safe.

There is a main lobby and you enter through there to get to the rooms. I think they have some side doors but you need to swipe your hotel key to get in. It's been a few years since we stayed there. I felt safe staying in that hotel, as we were walking down the street I saw some other hotels that were open areas, you walk up the stairs to the hotel door yikes! CHeck out Marriot website on that hotel

I stayed at the Fairfield & agree with DangerMouse & can confirm & agree with all else mentioned above.

A good, clean, typical Fairfield with a little Disney theming added in & a nice non-descript pool (which we used daily). Also McDs is in the parking lot which came in handy for McSnacks & for cheap ice cream & to go items, etc.

BUT....when i checked for Marriot Rewards recently (a month ago for a possible stay)....they bumped the class from a 3 (mid) to a 5 (high end). I agree, the ability to walk would have ME pick it over the other Marriots mentioned (we take daily naps & have to be at the park gate prior to opening, & the Fairfield allows us to do this easily), but be advised that you might be paying champagne points for a beer quality hotel.

I host a large luncheon annually at this hotel. The staff goes out of their way to make you feel welcome. Parking is expensive yes. Rooms are nice - nothing huge though. Two double beds (not queens), internet is not free either. The pool in nice but depending on when you go it might be to cold to be outside in the pool. There is a Starbucks inside for a quick bite in the morning and a Pizza Hut on site too. Room service is average hotel cost and selection.... The ART runs directly outside of the hotel to Disney but it is not that bad of a walk if you cut through the Convention Center walkway and then across Katella and the Timon and Pumba parking lot. You can even take the Disney shuttle from the parking lot to the park.

I will be there on Feb 8th... Let me know if you need anything else.. lucky for me though because of the size of my event we get a suite!

We are staing at the Marriott next month. It is about a 10-15 minute walk. DEf walkabl, just not across the street. If rate/freebies are the same, take the Marriott. (lounge or Plat members().

We stayed at the Fairfield in Dec (I got it free for 2 nights as part of our employee Christmas gift). It was clean, but extremely loud in my opinion. We were on the fireworks side of the hotel which I thought would be fun, but my toddler fell asleep way before the fireworks ever started. SO, at about 10pm every night we all had a nice awakening from the fireworks show. Be wary if you're planning on going to bed early.
The walk is very short and nice. We came back for about 3 hours for naps/refreshing and it was perfect! Couldn't have worked out better.
I didn't pay for it, and I probably would stay somewhere with free breakfast instead using my own money.
Both Marriott's are nice, and if your DH is Platinum, I am sure you'll get special treatment

Still up in the air over this...
I know I need to hurry up and make a decision. It's hard when you've never been somewhere and you're trying to plan-
You only have the advice of others to go on.

staying at the Marriott Residence Inn next weekend while we are there. We stayed there when we went for the 1/2 marathon last fall. Advantages are the in room kitchen and pretty decent breakfast. The shuttle stopped right outside our room but it was certainly within walking distance of the park if you wanted to go that way. (it is on Clementine I think).

That said if anyone knows how I can order a birthday cake to be delivered to the hotel I would appreciate. This trip is to celebrate my daughter's 21st birthday!

You will probably receive a better answer than I can give you but Vons has a delivery service and they can deliver to the area.... I am sure there are other grocery stores that do the same too... You may want to order a few groceries/staples for your stay - water, soda etc...
