marine ball?

one of my friends asked me if i would go to the marine corps ball with him...he was only on for a few minutes so we didnt really get to talk about it..ive never b een to one, so i was wondering is there anywhere online to look up about it? i found a ton of things, but they were mainly different peoples journals talking about it...so i figured i would ask you guys...
also, he said they are in different places? is there a list of them or something? sorry if this doesnt make sense thanks

The Marine Corp Ball is the celebration of the Marine Corps anniversary. It happens every year. Not sure if there is a list per se, but each base/area/big military cities usually have one. It is very formal.

I have not experienced one myself, but my best friend and her DH attend them regularly.

The Marine Corps Ball is something that is easier experienced than explained... for active Marines (I spent 8 years on active duty) it is a night to celebrate the birth of our Corps and to symbolically connect to our past and future (see the cake ceremony).

For us old Marines, it is an opportunity to remember. We remember our old comrades, and friends. We remember our old platoon sergeants and company commanders... we laugh we drink, we talk about how boot camp isn't tough like it used to be back in "the old corps". We dance and generally have a great time.
