Marie's New Years Resolution~in July

Hopefully all the treadmill action and running around are counteracting your not-so-stellar food choices... :rolleyes1

You are doing great with the exercising, keep it up! :cheer2:

You may have had half a cheeseburger.....but you didn't have a whole one.
You may have had some pizza......but you didn't have chips.

AND

you exercised!

There's always tomorrow!

Thanks CJK....you're right....thanks for the encouragement!!

Today was pretty good!
b-toast w/ honey butter
l-crappy chicken salad on wheat (only about 1/2)
s-3 bites of pecan pie
d-handfull of speghetti (no, i didn't really measure it that way...honestly :rolleyes1 )
water-(sit down kim..it's good) 100oz!!!
exercise-30 minutes on the treadmill this morning....whenever DH gets home, I'll do another 30 or 40...depending what time that is! (he got a late arrest)

DS is having problems at school again...but I'm the one confused!! I get a call from his teacher today telling me that he's not concentrating, and applying himself, and not completing his classwork, but that he is VERY polite and respectful. okaaaayyyyyyy....she also says that in the 5th grade they shouldn't have to have someone check their agenda books to make sure they are writing stuff down correctly. I said, well, if he's not writing it down correctly, how can I make sure he's doing the work?.....she also said that I should time his homework....give him 45 minutes to do it, and if he can't get it done in that time, then he'll have to finish it during art, or gym. So, I said..."Ok..you want me to let him NOT finish his homework at home, so he can finish it during ART, or GYM, and then he can get bad grades in those classes, as well as half credit for not completing his homework. It sounds to me like that's setting him up to fail." She started to respond and I said..."How about if we try this for a few weeks...you sign off on his agenda book before he leaves school,DAILY, so I can make sure he's doing the correct assignments....that way his grades won't drop....AND I continue to help him with his work at night, as well as we have him tested by the County school system to see where he is having problems. I realize he is ADHD, and he's on meds, but I don't see where limiting his time is going to help him succeed at all. I'm going to try to ENCOURAGE him to do his best, not rush through it, not understand it, and fail." We talked for a few minutes, she agreed to sign off on his book, and I will be making some phone calls tomorrow for the Achievement Testing. (it's proper procedure I guess) I ALSO got a call from his gym teacher telling me how great he is doing this year, how much he's grown, mentally and physically, and how he can't believe it's the same boy from last year.
:confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3
(anyway, after I got off the phone w/ his teacher, 3 of the girls in the office started clapping.....it was pretty funny!)

Sorry this is so long...just at my wits end on how to handle all this.
btw-he's been working on 28 math problems for 2 hrs now, so yes, I know there are problems!

thanks for listening, as usual!
marie

Kudos on the Ds stuff! I think you did great! I wish I had been more aggressive with my sons teachers, I think it was the exactly right thing to do! My son doesn NOT have adhd and he did the same type thing, taking a long time on homework etc. I think this is a problem for LOTS of boys. Soldier on, it will get better!

Great job on the exercising and diet! If I had crappy chicken salad I wouldnt eat it either!

Have a nice night!

Dont worry so much about DS........I know thats impossible, but try anyway.

:hippie:

Hang in there! Glad you're sticking to your guns about your DS - they need to get this taken care of before he gets older. That teacher is being a PITA. I taught HS for years and some kids just never to get the hang of agendas. I had one kid who was brilliant, but for math, she had to do 1 problem per PAGE of paper. All perfect, but couldn't handle it all together. He can succeed with the right teachers and help!

Your exercise is AWESOME - eating, well, like me, you'll get the hang of it eventually....(I'm hoping I do before I'm 60!)

Have a great weekend!

Hey, Marie! Wow, I've missed alot! Glad to hear your DH is doing better and back to running and back to work! I think you did excellent in talking with your son's teacher! I really need to channel you sometimes to help deal with my clients!! You are good at being firm and straightforward! Those are excellent qualities!

I think that you are doing REALLY great on your exercise!! I mean you get up and exercise before work!! :cheer2: :cheer2: That takes motivation!

You are doing good on your challenge so far and you have resisted a lot of yummy junk food!! I would have caved when they brought all the chips, dip, & donuts!! :rolleyes1 You haven't always made the best food choices but you realize where you need work and you are trying. You'll get there!! :cheer2: Keep up the good work!

Ok.... will I join the chip challenge.. hmmm... You guys have the funniest timing. I almost never have chips around the house & don't eat them at work... So this should be EASY. Last weekend, though, we had that get together, so now I have like 2 bags of chips just waiting to be eaten. That is ok, I like sweet snacks not salty. SO, that said, I will join your NO CHIP challenge! As of today I will be chip free!

Sweet tea.... that's a different story. How about no more than one glass a day. That will be my personal challenge.

Well, Have a WONDERFUL Thursday!! :sunny: Exercise, eat well, and be Merry!! :dance3:

Great job putting your foot down with the teacher. That is so funny you should mention the agenda because my DS (also in 5th) started doing this and was not writing stuff down, getting F's on assignments, etc. Finally his teacher started initialing the agenda every day (plus she has a website we can check), so at least I know he has written everything down! We go for P/T conferences today, and DH is going. He has a few questions for DS's teacher (one of his buddy's daughter is in the same class and is also getting really bad grades when she did just fine last year). Hey, but at least his behavior is fine this year! :confused3

You are really doing great on your workouts, keep it up! :yay:

Good for you being your child's advocate. You as his parent, know what he is capable of and what works and what doesn't. I'm going through the whole agenda thing with DD11 (6th grade) right now too. She was not writing stuff down because "I finished it in class" - but then she hadn't or then she would write "math - finish" Finish what??? Now I have told her she must write the whole assignment down regardless. Of course, she is at 6th grade camp this week and will be on break for the next two weeks. So I'm sure it will be starting all over when she finally gets back to school in November.

Great job doing your exercise in the mornings and then again with DH at night - that is awesome! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

You have set some great challenges for yourself and you will suceed with them! You only had 3 bites of the pecan pie. That is a good step. It may take a bit to get all the pieces together, but you will, because you are one determined lady! You are doing geat! :cheer2:

6:30 am~treadmill~30 minutes
b-1 nasty poptart
l-berry flavored meal replacement shake...still burping that crap!!
d-3 bites of leftover homemade pot pie....was good the first time...
water-96 oz

Had to bring DS a tylenol to school today...he was complaining of a headache. I took the time to talk to the V-Princ about my conversation w/ the teacher, and to let her know that he is having some problems w/ math, and concentration in general. She is going to monitor him...(not let him know it) and we will get together on Tuesday. We'll see what happens now.

gotta go....

hello Marie--Good for you for talking to the teacher! hopefully things will start working the way you want them ;)

You are doing a great job, keep it up and have a great weekend

Hey lady. Nice job with the 'mill. You're kickin some serious hoo-ha. :thumbsup2

What kind of meal replacement shake did you drink? I'd like to find a protien shake that I can actually get down for breakfast. I get sick of eggs REALLY fast!

Have a WONDERFUL weekend!!

You are really doing great on your workouts! :cheer2:

That's good that the school is willing to help your DS. I am surprised they didn't give him a Tylenol - every year I have to sign something that allows them to give the kids Tylenol. That policy must differ by state/city/school.

Keep up the good work!

Amy - the school won't give out ANY medication unless signed off by a pediatrician/doctor. Last year I had the pediatrician write a note saying it was ok to give DS tylenol. This year, I didn't mess with it. I told DS that I would bring him a pill when he needed one.

Didn't do the mill this morning....TOM attacked and it was all I could do to get out of bed. Thank god it was Friday, jeans/casual day! I hate having my period! I was in the worst mood all day...not cramping or anything...just REALLY hormonal. I don't think I said 5 words to anyone in the office all day...probably kept me from getting fired!!!
I did go to lunch w/ my photog boss, and a few co-workers (the girl that works in the studio is moving...going away lunch). I had 1/2 of a french dip and 4 fries....with WATER!!! Still no sweet tea...not even missing it!!
So far today I've had 56 oz of water....and I'm not done yet!
Gonna go walking tonight. Nothing major...just DD and I gonna go around the block...might drag the dog w/ us.

Tomorrow is 10 am soccer for both kids...at 2 different places!! Then DS is going to a friends house to play, and DD has a Halloween party to go to tomorrow night. Sunday is a Wedding show, plus roller hockey....won't be home all day on Sunday. That sucks!

I might check in later...I might go crawl under the bed...either way, have a good evening everyone!

marie

Whatever happened to those nice, relaxing weekends? Oh ya, KIDS CAME! Sounds like you will be super busy this weekend! Just think, that leaves no time for misbehaving with food!

Sorry about TOM, I am so glad I don't have to deal with that nonsense anymore.

Great job resisting the sweet tea, I bet after not drinking it for a few months, the next time you drink it, it will be TOO sweet! It is for me, and I have a major sweet tooth...

Happy Saturday!!!
DD's soccer team won 3-0 - DD scored the 3rd goal....she did so good!! She is such a fast runner....there were 4 or 5 times that she stole the ball and took it down field....and NO one was anywhere close to her!!!
DS's team lost 1-3 - but that's ok...they still played great according to DH. I'm proud of both of them!
After soccer I went to Lowes, (had already bought the paint 3-4 months ago) had them shake my paint, then I came home and DH and I painted the master bath!! I'm so glad that's done!! It needed a fresh coat SOOOO bad!!! It's a really pretty pale yellow. I even washed the trim, doors, and floor on my hands and knees when we got done! LOOKS GREAT!!
DH asked what was next and I told him spare bath ceiling needs scraping, then primered, then blown. By then I'll have a new color picked out for that one. I'm thinking a pale green...we'll see. (When the morons built this house in 1999, they didn't primer the ceilings. In the spare bath, the fan wasn't strong enough, therefore the moisture built up in the ceiling, and the "popcorn" came down in some spots. I call them my bald spots!) We already bought the new exhaust fan, just haven't put it in yet. One thing at a time!!

ok...gotta go shower and get ready for DD Halloween party tonight. She's going to be a black cat!

have a good one guys!
marie

You are doing better than me in the home improvement department. I was supposed to put primer on the front door trim and all I have is tape (which the spazoid dog keeps taking off and eating). I bet everything looks great, it is amazing what difference a little paint and cleaning can make!

LOL!!! Why can I picture this?? :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao: (sorry, it just struck me as funny....Amy taping and the beagle getting a mouthful and running around the house w/ it!!)

this is gonna be quick...i've been on my feet for 12 hours straight today....I'm exhausted!

b-banana
l-carrots,cucumber,green peppers
s-trail mix
d-grilled chicken salad wrap at 9:30 at night....sorry, i was starving!!
water - 64 oz
coke-12 oz
exercise - heck, 8 hours at the wedding show - 4 hours of roller hockey...
can I at least count 60 minutes??

ok...swollen ankles and tired eyes....see ya in the morning!

marie

I gotta give you kudos girl. There is no way I could have carrots cucumbers and green peppers for lunch!

:hippie:

I hope you are all rested from your busy weekend! As for the tape-eating dog, it was quite comical to watch him - it's like he was eating peanut butter or something! :teeth:
