Marie's Clothes on Everybody Loves Raymond

Yes! And the fact that the wallpaper is all faded, except for the outline of the big fork and spoon. So she finally decides to rip them down and yet, you look at the wall and there they are!

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao: Was this the suitcase episode? I loved that part!

I'm off to youtube...waiting for DD14 to come home safely. What a great thing to watch, laugh, and not notice she's 30 minutes late ;)

Robert and the "dummy" policeman on his knee. When the "dummy" got into the fight with Frank, I had tears running down my face.

My husband and I loved that show. I still laugh every time I think about the suitcase full of cheese episode. My favorite Marie Barone quote ever is "Don't let a suitcase full of cheese become your big fork and spoon."

Marie is the perfect mix of my mother and my husband's mother.

Bahahaha! I love that quote! That and when Frank opened his refrigerator and the door fell off-Holy crappin' crap!!

My favorite episode was that one with the suitcase..and the one where Marie and Frank were going to move. Robert, Amy, Debra and Ray went into the kitchen to jump around all excited..Robert lifts up Amy and sits her on top of the fridge.
Ray and Debra are jumping around, Ray lifts up Deb and tries to put her on top of the fridge, but isn't tall enough and just slams her into it. OMG, we rewound that and watched it over and over, laughing our butts off.

So, according to IMDb, the costume designer for Everybody Loves Raymond was Simon Tuke, and the two main members of the wardrobe department were Ashley Steuer and Sonya Ooten.

Steuer currently works on Hot in Cleveland; and Tuke worked on Mike and Molly from 2010-2012 (couldn't find anything recent on Ooten). Anyway, writing to these people in care of these shows might result in some information. I know the wardrobe person on Mike & Molly was pretty forthcoming when asked about McCarthy's wardrobe on the show.

I think I have an answer to the original question. I take an older woman to lunch once a week who dresses like Marie.

She buys virtually everything at QVC.

Chico's has a lot of jackets but they do not usually come in the plus sizes (except for some online).

What about the episode when Marie crashes the car into Ray and Debra's living room. I love watching that episode and others! Marie and Frank remind me of my fathers mother and stepfather. And the funny thing is my grandfather was named Frank.

That one is just pure gold - and the following episode where they get kicked out of the retirement community.

But as bad as your father has been...............:rotfl2:

Don't let your stinky cheese be my big fork and spoon!! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I actually recorded the wedding episode where Ray teaches Robert to be helpless in order to get out of stuff...and forced my husband and teenage son to watch! :rotfl2::rotfl2: Yep, they knew I had their number!:lmao::lmao:

My grandmother had clothes like that when I was growing up. I kinda get the feeling that the were older, well made clothes that had lasted a long time. Probably helped that she line dried them vs. using a dryer, too, plus she probably used Woolite or some other gentle cleaner.

Clothes these days are almost disposable.

I can't remember what the episode was about which is killing me right now, but does anyone remember the one where Marie slapped either Ray and Frank or both? OMG, it was so funny. I thought it had something to do with Frank saying he thought the cleaning lady they had before was hot, but I could be wrong.

Also love AIS seat episode and the one where Robert starts hanging with his African American partner and starts going out with them to clubs, so funny!

The PMS is another good episode!!

But it doesn't say anything about -----y.

Lordy, I never come to the community board-it was a slip of the mouse that got me here. Everybody Loves Raymond was/is my favourite show to watch. We're not getting it much right now, and I miss it!

The slap was the PMS show, I think. Where Frank was telling Raymond to pray for the comet. That is probably my all time favourite episode. I could wet my pants laughing at that one (especially when it first came out, and PMS was a regular at my house).

How about the one where Ray and Robert hid in the closet to scare Frank, like he had scared them as little boys?

The posters above who said their mother or grandmother wore clothes like that reminded me my mom ordered a lot of stuff from OPT.

Debra cooking fish for Thanksgiving.

Or when Ray's cousin works for him and he finds him annoying but just like him:rotfl:

I also love the Thanksgiving one where marie makes the tofu turkey. Debra says "it definately has an authentic turkey flavor". Love that one!!

Hey, cool! My old post popped back up! I did finally get some good Marie outfits. I got the ponte knit black pants from Woman Within in petite, and found the black shells and silk shirts at Catherine's and Coldwater Creek online (CC has plus size clothing in their online store). Mission accomplished! The combo works very well for us Marie-type ladies, I think. :thumbsup2
