Marie and I both went to see Eight Below today (we both were wondering what movie was the last we had seen at the theater, LOL, neither of us could). It is a wonderful movie.

And having had two Huskies in the past, Keemo and blue-eyed Tanya, some parts were a bit teary. For those who have seen the movie, you probably understand.

Here they are, Tanya on the left, and Keemo. They were wonderful dogs. :(

i agree that it was a good movie, but definitely a bit tough to watch...we went with my little cousins and they were a bit sad,,,i love the picture of your dogs--they are gorgeous!

Dan and Marie. ;) Believe it or not, we saw 3 of these Dogs at a Antique show today, 2 of them were TWINS! ;) to YOU and Marie!

We saw the movie last weekend, and really enjoyed it! Glad you finally got to go to the movies...... of course movie prices are a bit of a shock!

We just got back from it also. We all loved it. I took DS8 & DD5 but I know someone who went friday & read all the reviews so we talked about it before we went.

I thought it was a great story, cast & those dogs were just awsome. That seal scared me bigtime.

first, beautiful dogs!!!!

We took our DD8, but were prepared due to having read up on it, thank goodness. I had a husky growing up, so it hit home here as well.....it was a very good movie!!! We did have a couple young girls sitting behind us that just sobbed through the whole thing though.

:wizard:

Could someone either answer here or PM me and let me know if the dogs survive? The wife is really pushing to see the movie, but she cries at just about everything and if the dogs die, she'd absolutely be a basket case for the rest of the night and the next day!

Thanks!

It's probably a movie I shouldn't see then. I'm a sucker when animals get hurt or die in movies.

Possible spoiler ahead for those who haven't seen Chronicles of Narnia yet:

I thought I was going to break down and lose it when Azlan was killed in Narnia!

Oh, and gorgeous dogs Dan! Truly a beautiful breed!

I saw it last weekend and it still haunts me. The worst part is (not a spoiler if you have seen anything about it) when they leave the babies behind. I can hear my Mani-Nana crying when I have to go somewhere. They are such pack puppies! I love my Hoosky-Who as I call my girl. She is my buddy, another female in the house and my running partner.

Gorgeous dogs!!!!!! I have a half husky/rottweiller dog, Nikita. He is furry like a husky, big husky tail but with rotty markings, he has brown eyes except one still has a slither of blue. Then our newest addition is a white and tan german shepard, Sasha. My dog before Nikita was a husky, shepard mix. Got to love the big dogs!!!!

They are the two year olds of the dog world (forgive my post after a post. If I try to edit one with a photo it tends to get messed up).

They can run for three days without stopping
They can run faster than you for three days without stopping
They have NO homing instinct whatsoever (a husky off the leash is a gone husky)
They steal food, tonight we lost a lamb roast (Fotunatly it was after dinner)
They love everyone as much as they love you. It's not that they don't love you but other people are SO interesting!
They will show the burglers where the good silver is.
They NEED exercise. NEED it. They will run themselves to death. That was dead on in the movie.
They look like stuffed animals but they are NOT lap dogs. They tolerate pets but are not really interested in long snuggle sessions (there are exceptions)

If you think about it then it makes sense. A homing instinct would mean they would not be as willing to run to new places. They also have to be ready to go to a new team. If they were pining for the old one then it would be harder. Of course that means they greet everyone with as much love as they give you.

They are not for people who have not had dogs before. Truly. If they get in your heart tho you will never be satisfied with any other breed. My family used to raise St. Bernards and I love them but I could not train for a marathon with one. She keeps me so safe. She would not hurt a fly (Well she would eat a rabbit) but people on my running route have no clue. I feel pretty good running in the dark with her.

I would not trade my girl for any other dog!

So basically, you're telling me to wait for the DVD so I can cry non stop? The trailer for this movie really make me want to see it.

I saw the movie last week and cried. It was such a wonderful movie and well done.

We saw this today and took our dd's (10 and 7). I would not take particularly sensitive children to it, but my dd's were ok overall. My 7yo did find some of the action scenes too intense and hid her eyes.

I would not recommend this movie to kids much younger than 7, esp if the kids are sensitive (to sad things or action) or if you'd rather not have to talk about difficult topics afterward.

pixiedust: Dh and I took our DGS to see this movie. DGS sobbed through out the movie and I felt sooooo bad for him. Dan love your dogs. Shirley

I saw it today and I cried. *snif* *snif*

Dan, your Tanya and Keemo were/are beautiful! Thx for sharing. :goodvibes

We took DGS to see it last week end as a reward for making straight A's. He is 5th grade, so we thought he was old enough, but, we did forewarn him. We all loved it, thought the story was excellent in teaching love, devotion and compassion for man's best friend. Needless to say, needed some tissues.
