We checked into the Royal Pacific last Monday and decided to eat at Margaritaville since it was the first restaurant we came to in City Walk. We ordered two of the "Last Mango in Paris" drinks while waiting for our table. (I noticed people "camp out" here and never want to leave, so you're more likely to have to wait for a table in you come without reservations.) The drinks were good- sort of like a "mangorita".
I ordered a bowl of corn and crab chowder, which was OK, but the "bowl" of soup was MAYBE an inch deep and about four inches across- probably about ten small bites at most. My real disappointment was the fried calamari, which was hands down the worst calamari I'd ever eaten. It tasted like strips of deep fried *sponge* and the sauces were the only thing that made it edible. Seriously, it was that bad.
DH had the bacon cheeseburger in paradise and thought it was OK. Our second round of Mangoritas were not as good as the first, either.
The one great thing about the whole experience was a few nights later when we ate at Pastamore and the manager came over to ask how the meal was. My chicken marsala was delicious, but I told him I would have ordered the calamari if I hadn't had a bad batch from Margaritaville. Well, he runs straight to the kitchen and in five minutes I'm offered a sample of some wonderful calamari!!! They serve it with a light cream sauce, a marinara sauce, and a balsamic drizzle- outstanding!
If you're craving calamari go to Pastamore!
