Mardi Gras Parade Questions - OK for 5 Year Olds? Really Crazy?

What's the verdict on where the parade starts? We're first timers,2/17, and looking forward to it.

Parade starts in Amity right by Fear Factor Live. It then rolls down past Earthquake, and goes down past Horro Make up and T-2, then strolls around Twister and turns down ROTM then ends up at BeetleJuice.

I live in Georgia and see they offer $10 off the Mardi Gras ticket and need a promotional number from a Wendy's Cup or 24 pack of Coke.

Problem is my Local Wendy's don't have these "cups" and to get the $10 off all our mardi gras tickets we need this promotional code. Does anyone have an extra code off there Wendy's cup that I can use? Or possibly from a 24 pack of Coke?

DH and I were at the parade last Sat., Feb. 10. We got there about 6, rode the Mummy, ate some burgers, rode MIB and then found a spot across from the shark. It was probably about 7:15, and it was not crowded, I was amazed at how small the crowd was. The parade started on time and it was fantastic. The floats were amazing, and all the costumes were great. DH liked the girls in their flower bikinis, . We caught a lot of beads, there really was no shoving at all. We left right after the parade, crossed the bridge and headed towards the exit. The crowds were huge by Mel's, but we walked behind them and had no problems.

The best part is we gave our beads to kids who had none. It was more fun than catching them. Even had a few to give to the boat captain and some little boys on the boat who had not been to the parade. It was a blast.

We had an early flight home the next day so did not want to be out late. I think the Amityville area is great for families, you can get a lot of beads without being stepped on. I was surprised at how much alcohol was being sold, and we did see the girls with the jello shots. But that was mostly in the Twister/Mummy area, and we did not see anyone who was drunk, but we left early. I am sure the area near the concert stage was a zoo. But if you steer clear of it, you shouldn't have any problems.

I think we were standing near each other at last week's Mardi Gras
We were across from the shark, too. Probably a little bit more in front of the Jaws entrance. But I agree, that is definitely the best place to watch the parade. We caught plenty of beads and had no trouble getting out of the park afterwards.
