Hi everyone,

My family and I are traveling to the Marco Island area in mid-July and I'm hoping to find out some "insider" information about the area. My biggest concern is where to stay. I've done several searches and it seems that the hotels really run the gamut as far as quality/amenities/prices. We're looking for something more upscale where we'll have plenty to do without leaving the resort but also a place where our children will be comfortable (DS 12, DD 5, DN 16). We're also bringing my parents along for the trip. Anyone have any first-hand experience they'd be willing to share?

Also, is there anything to do in the area if we did want to get out and about? We'll be there 4 days.

Thanks in advance for your help!

We stayed at the Marriott resort on marco island last summer and didn't want to leave! I have 2 kids a DD12 and DS4. We got a really great rate last summer that included hot breakfast buffet for the adults and then the 4 yr. old was free so we only had to pay for the 12yr. old. I think we paid around $110-$120ish. Got the rate through marriott rewards.

They have a 2 pools. one is brand new and has zero entry, a slide and a waterfall. The other pool has no special features but is really huge and got very deep.

The room was VERY nice with a balcony and we had a pool/ side ocean view. When we 1st pulled up to the place we were worried as it has a different look to it but it had just gotten a complete makeover last year before we got there and was very nice.

They had poolside food and also a pizza place at the hotel as well as fancier places to eat. And down on the beach they charged for the big wooden lounges with cushions but they did have free chairs for on the beach for you to use. they were similar to pool chairs only they sit low for using down at the beach. They also had other beach stuff for rent out front.

As you can tell we really liked the place and would love to go back.

We owned a condo there and sold it in 1995. Too bad we didn't still have it, I would rent it to you!

You're going to love Marco! I really miss it there and hope to someday go back again!!

Definately stay close to the beach-its beautiful!! Have fun!!
