Marcia's Solo Trip to Pop, Apr-May 08, lots of pics! *updated 7/3 day 8*

Great update Marsh! I was in the right place at the right time for Capt Jack in Feb! I reminded hem of his sword fight with Kyle in 2007 and that Kyle won.I did a lot of rides too Buzz several times and POTC. I loved the parade and met up with Mark and family for the fireworks!!If there is one when I'm there with family I think we'll splurge !!

Hey! Just read all your TR so far and sounds like you had an amazing time! I always thought going on my own would be a little overwhelming and lonely but you've changed my mind.. it looks awesome!!
Loving the pictures of the P&PP, especially the one of pirate mickey right at the end!! :thumbsup2

The party looked awesome! Parties are great because there's no lines and you feel like a VIP guest for one night!! :thumbsup2 Mmmmm, I love those Dole Whips! And that pic of Pirate Mickey was really cute.

I'm enjoying your trip report. I took a pseudo-solo trip in August 2007. It wasn't a genuine solo trip because a friend of mine from high school was doing the CP program at the time, so I was able to spend roughly 50% of my trip with her.

I can't believe how much walking you are doing. I have to wonder if you keep up this pace throughout your trip! Thanks for sharing!

I wandered over here from your dining report and I'm really enjoying this one too!

Your solo trip sounds like a blast!

Love all your parade pics! It is a great parade, I loved it in March!

I am really enjoying both of your reports!

Allyson :)

Sat, May 3, Day 4, Part 1

After such a late night at the P&P Party, it would have made sense to sleep in. Yup, that would have been smart, but I had secured an 8:05am ADR for Tusker House this morning, and there was no way I was passing it up. So I was up and waiting at the bus stop at 7am. While I was waiting, I snapped a couple pics.

That's right, not many people out there waiting for buses in the wee hours of the morning. The bus didn't come until 7:35, but I was at Animal Kingdom before 8. Perfect timing to get to my ADR.

I was let into the park with the rest of the early morning diners, and led back to Tusker House. Had to wait a couple minutes, then they took my picture on the way in
dis2008-05292.jpg

That was with my camera, but they did the whole package deal, but it wasn't included, so no way did I buy it. Managed to take a red neck shot though, you know how I love those!

Breakfast was really good. And I was seated next to a couple who recognized my LGMH. So hi guys! And thanks for taking my picture! Here I am with some of my favorite characters

the host, Donald

the big cheese, Mickey

the lovely lady, Daisy

and the silly one, Goofy

This breakfast was a great character experience, highly recommended!

I was out of breakfast at 8:45am, which was perfect timing to sit and wait at the rope. Normally, I would go to Expedition Everest first, but since Tusker House left me right by the Safari, I decided to switch it up. Craziness, I know. Here was my view, as I was right up against the rope
dis2008-05305.jpg

The CMs told us they wouldn't let us through until the rest of the crowd arrived from the front of the park, but they ended up giving us a few paces head start, which was a nice perk. Thanks CMs!

So I was one of the first to grab a Fastpass, and then I immediately went on standby. There were lots of animals out, and I got some nice pictures.

I always take a pic of this tree, the upside down tree

I think I actually had better luck later, on my second trip. But it wasn't time for that yet. Had to wait for the FP time to be up.

So with the Safari taken care of, it was time to tackle Everest! I love love love this ride, and I love love love the single rider line! I went on twice using the single rider line, without any wait whatsoever. My "number" is 13, so I was thrilled when I was placed in that row
dis2008-05335.jpg

And here are the redneck shots!
dis2008-05336.jpg

Hmm, for some reason, I only got one of them, even though I went on twice :confused3

Next big ride I wanted to hit was Dinosaur, so I walked on over to Dinoland.
dis2008-05337.jpg

After that, I decided to try a couple of rides I haven't done before, as long as they didn't have lines. But on my way, I ran into Pluto, so of course, I had to stop and say hi.
dis2008-05339.jpg

So what two rides hadn't I ever been on you ask? Primevil Whirl and Triceratops Spin. Woah, I don't even remember which was which now, but oh yeah, Primevil Whirl, I know why people call it Primevil HURL! That thing threw me around like crazy. I am in no rush to get back on that anytime soon. Glad I tried it, just so I know what it's like, though. And then Triceratops Spin, like Dumbo, but with tilting. Ooh, aaah. So that was fun. I may have gone back through Asia at this point to pick up a FastPass for Everest. I must have gotten the FP at some point. Maybe I did that earlier...not really sure. And I usually write that down! Oops!

Since my FP time was up for the Safari, I made my way back over that way. And yes, I did remember correctly, I got better pics this time around.

Picture overload, sorry bout that! I bet I'm gonna have to split this up into 2 posts...

At this time, my Everest FP window was up, so I headed back to Asia, once again. I really do walk a lot. But in this park, it's really hard not to. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it! On my way over, though, I stopped by Yak and Yeti to see if they had anything available for lunch. Originally, I had a 2TS meal (Artist Point) scheduled around 8pm, but I knew I wouldn't make it that long, so I decided to split the 2 credits, and do one at lunch and one at dinner. So thankfully, Y&Y could fit me in at 2pm, and Disney Dining hooked me up with Whispering Canyon Cafe for later that night. Nice.

Before riding with my FP, I got another FP for Expedition Everest. Put those hands up in the air!
dis2008-05368.jpg

I had some major time to kill, so I decided to do something else I've never done at AK...walk the trails. First stop, Maharajah Jungle Trek.

On my way over to the next trail, I ran into Divine

So after bumping into Divine, I walked the Pangani Forrest Trek

Now, I really wanted to fit in the Festival of the Lion King, which started at 1pm. But I also really wanted to nab another FP for Everest! So I hightailed it back to Asia, got my FP (now holding 2 for EE, woohoo!), and hightailed once again to Camp Minnie Mickey, where I made it into the theatre with about 5 minutes to spare. Phew!

Love this show! Once it was over, it was about 1:30pm, so I had a bit of time before my ADR. I decided that I needed to fit in It's Tough To Be a Bug, once again, another thing I'd never done at AK. I started getting nervous when it got to be 1:50, but the doors opened right at that moment! Apparently, it's an 8 minute show (I asked because I was worried about making my ADR), so that gave me literally 2 minutes to get to my ADR. But I didn't worry about that during the show. It was cute. But I can see why little kids would get scared.

Right, so from Discovery Island, I needed to get to Yak and Yeti for my lunch. It wasn't too bad though, and I was only a couple of minutes late. They weren't busy anyway, so it didn't really matter. Lunch was pretty good, service could have been better, but you can read about it in my dining report. Here was my view out the window

Alright, I'm going to stop here for now. I'm sure I'm close to my limit on pictures again anyway :rolleyes1

next up: the rest of AK, WCC dinner, and Spectro
