Marcia's Solo Trip to Pop, Apr-May 08, lots of pics! *updated 7/3 day 8*

Awesome update as usual Marsh! I really have to try a EMH in the pm sometime but I'm usually to much of an early bird to stay up late . But maybe the family will consider it next year!!

I just found your TR and it is amazing! I'm another one who doesn't mind walking back & forth across the parks to avoid standing in long lines. How wonderful you were able to see Toy Story! My dd & I were there a week after you. You've really got me thinking about a solo trip since dh is NOT disney-friendly :confused3 That's something I should have looked at more closely before saying "I do" 28 yrs ago.
Looking forward to the next installment.
Karen

Great installment and pics! How cool to be there so late at night! I've never done an evening EMH but you make it sound like a whole lot of fun!

What a day! I can't even begin to describe how I was feeling at the end of this one. Just amazing. I was so overwhelmed by everything that had happened, it was almost as if it had been a dream :cloud9: . I guess that's what you get for going to Disney, though, eh? Dreams and magic, all around. I love this place. And I always will. This is what it's all about :goodvibes

next up: sleeping in? and Epcot

What a great day indeed!!! Congrats on seeing TSM!! I didn't try to do it on our last day as I had heard there were long lines. My friend from FL had joined us Fri night and she did see it after we left Sat after an hour wait. She said it was really cool!

I was at Pop 5/4 to 5/10 with my 5yo DD in room 5126-right below you-I don't think we were too loud-hope you got to sleep late on Monday.

I've got to try a solo trip someday-we go as a family once a year and I also take my kids DD(9), DS(7), DD(5) on 'semi-solo' trips.

What are your August dates? We'll all be at ASMu 8/14 to 8/28-longest trip to date.

Woohoo for EMH at MK!! :woohoo:
I'm the same way....I love hitting the parks at that time, it's so much fun! That's really cute about the two boys, so sweet! :goodvibes Ok, and Peter Pan was a WALK ON?? If there weren't pictures, I wouldn't believe you!! :lmao:
Can't wait for more!

wow another reason for us to stay onsite next time, the EMH look fantastic!!
It's amazing how you just walked on so many rides, and how you saw so many characters!!! :thumbsup2:

Marcia,

Great report!! I just love all things Disney and your trip report and pics are almost, (best thing as being there, when you can't be:cool1:

What a magical evening!! I can't get over the Fantasyland ghost town pictures. Thanks for taking pictures -- I would never have believed it without photographic evidence. And then the characters coming out on top of that and riding with the kids?! Pure magic!! :wizard:

Although have to say not sure I still have it in me to be up so late... maybe with Disney adrenalin ;)

Really great report...you're getting me very excited for my solo trip in October!!

Darn right you need to sleep in...that was one looooong day!

hehe, i did get to...kinda :)

Sounds like such an awesome time!! How great that the characters came out for some rides and pics!! Hmmm, did you sleep in??? After that late of a night, and all the things you did, you SHOULD, but maybe you were too excited to get to EPCOT....

i really did have an awesome time! and i did get to sleep in, a little :)

What a great day for you!! It was really odd seeing empty lines for Dumbo and Peter Pan.

Mon, May 5, Day 6, Part 1

Sorry it's been so long without an update! I've been working my butt off!

Anyway, so following a late night in the MK, I definitely wasn't getting up for rope drop this day. I gave it a passing thought, but I'm glad I didn't do it. I ended up sleeping until 10, which was actually a great time to get up. I grabbed my "coffee" and also picked up a yogurt parfait from the food court.
dis2008-05558.jpg

I left my room for the bus stop at 10:45, and an Epcot bus pulled up right as I got there. Talk about perfect timing! Couldn't have been better. The bus got me to Epcot at 11:15. At this point, my lunch ADR was for 12:30 at Tutto Italia, but since I'd just had the parfait, I stopped by Guest Relations to see if I could move it a bit later. I had no problem whatsoever moving it to 1:30pm. Awesome!

But what was not so awesome...at this point I realized that I had lost my itinerary! :scared1: Now this was not just a boring old itinerary, it was color coded for TGM's days, had all my ADR's, which parks I was to be at and when...I was just so unbelievably upset, I couldn't believe it! Thank goodness the wonderful CM was able to print out the rest of my ADR's for me, so at least I had that. But note to self - always make copies! When we go in August, I'll make sure all 4 of us have our own itinerary, plus there will be one back in the room! I'm not taking any chances!

Alright, so I was just a little crushed. I couldn't imagine where I lost it. But I tried not to think about it, and just go about my day. So I went over to the Land to get a FP for Soarin. That's a way to brighten anybody's day :thumbsup2 . Since I was over there, I decided I would go see Crush! It was about noon at this point. I love that show, it is just so darn cute!

Since I had some time to kill, I figured I may as well hit up the single rider line on Test Track. So I did that twice. Good stuff, I love going on with people who really enjoy it. I don't remember if this was the time, but there was a family with a couple little kids, and it was their first time. They screamed their little heads off! Love it!

When I got off TT for the second time, I started to make my way toward World Showcase, as it was nearing lunch time. I stopped along with way in the butterfly tent, and took some pics.

I love butterflies! Found Minnie and another Butterfly outside the tent.

I continued moseying my way toward World Showcase, taking my time to stop and see the sights along the way.

A very nice couple noticed me taking pictures and asked if I'd like to be included in one. Sure! I love the kindness of others that I encounter throughout the world.
dis2008-05571.jpg

I decided to go to Italy by way of Mexico...because I hadn't had a Margarita yet this trip. Blasphemous, I know! So I got a Sour Green Apple one, my favorite of the flavors they offer
dis2008-05572.jpg

Mmm, mmm, good! Made my way to Italy and Tutto Italia for my lunch at 1:30. Only finished half the Margarita on the way, so I had the rest of it with my lunch. Very nice :thumbsup2

After lunch, I went on a drinking tour around the world. Next stop was Morocco. I ordered a Tangeriene Daquiri, and I noticed that I was only charged $3-4 or so, and knew that wasn't right. Well, she hadn't put any alcohol in it! Are you kidding me? She's like, well, you didn't say you wanted alcohol...I thought it was a given. So she put like a drop of rum or whatever on top of it. I dumped it in the nearest trash can, but managed to snap a pic first.
dis2008-05580.jpg

I was not pleased. This is a drink I've enjoyed in the past, but please include my alcohol next time. I'll be sure to specify...

So where did I turn next but my favorite old standby...France! For a Grey Goose Lemon Citron Slushie. Oh joy and rapture! This drink is and always will be my favorite around the World! Yummy!
dis2008-05581.jpg

By now, it was about time to head over to the UK to hear some tunes from the British Invasion. With my slushie in hand, I walked over the bridge and sat myself down on the curb for some good music.

dis2008-05583.jpg

dis2008-05584.jpg

I love these guys! I'm a big Beatles fan, so I really appreciate what they do. Thanks British Invasion! So since I was in the UK, who did I stumble upon but Mary Poppins. Sure, I'd met her before, but there was no line, so sign me up.
dis2008-05585.jpg

Next up was Off Kilter at 3:30...or so I thought :rolleyes1 . But I made sure to stop off at the UK pub first, and asked the bartender for something refreshing. He suggested some sort of drink with Pimm's in it. Never heard of it, but okay, bring it on! It was okay, don't know that I'd order it again though.
dis2008-05586.jpg

So I went on over to Canada...where I sat down on the empty benches, with the screen covering the stage. You'd think this would have tipped me off. But no, I sat there. For like 10 minutes. Until I decided to take a closer look at my times guide...and realized it was Monday. For some reason, I looked at the wrong day! No Off Kilter for me! Good thing I had seen them earlier in the week, I would have been majorly bummed to miss them completely.

So right, after realizing I was a moron (or maybe it was all the drinks I had... :rolleyes1 ), I decided to head over to Innoventions for the Visa Character Meet and Greet. I got there at 3:45, and finally got in with the characters at 4:30. Long wait, longer than I wait for rides, but you really do get one on one time, so I think it's worth it. Plus, you get a free picture out of the deal.

After chumming it up with some of my favorite characters, it was about time to make use of the Soarin FP that was burning a hole in my pocket. So I went on into the Land, and got to ride, in the front row, once again. Very nice! I just love that front row. Totally worth it to ask for it.

I figured it had been long enough since the Meet and Greet (they were warning us not to pick up our pictures too soon, as the computers seemed to be running slow for some reason), so I went over to the Camera shop to get my picture. They only had large envelopes, not the regular size which would have fit in my bagallini. So hmm, I was not pleased, didn't want to lug that around in a plastic bag. Well, I was happy to find out that I could have it sent back to Pop, just like a regular purchase. Perfect!

So with that taken care of, I went to wander around. I hadn't yet been on Space Ship Earth, and there was no line, so I went for it. I don't remember much of how this ride used to be, as the last time I went on was probably 2001, but I really didn't like the ending part with the interactivity. Thought it was dumb. Your mileage may vary.

Then I wandered over to the other side of the park, to check on Mission: Space and Test Track. Well, there was no line at M:S, so I went on. Orange side please! Spin me and send me to Mars! Good times. Then I went to TT, which of course I rode using the single rider line. After that, I wandered around Mousegears for a bit, and I think I bought a few Tshirts. Unfortunately, it was too late to send them back to the resort as I was leaving too soon after, so I had to carry that bag around. Oh well, I hooked it onto my bagallini with my trusty carribeaner. That thing came in so handy.

I'm going to stop here for now, and bring you the rest of the evening entertainment at a later time.

next up: evening at Epcot, DIS Meet!, MGM EMH (kinda), and DTD (seriously, I'm crazy!)

Next stop was Morocco. I ordered a Tangeriene Daquiri, and I noticed that I was only charged $3-4 or so, and knew that wasn't right. Well, she hadn't put any alcohol in it! Are you kidding me? Alcoholic content not included?!:confused3 I'll be sure to be more specific... thanks for the tip! And for another great installment.

BTW - August is around the corner. Will we be treated to another trip and dining report?? :worship: Pretty please?

I don't really like the new ending of Spaceship Earth either. Sorry about your Tangeriene Daquiri. I would think they would put alcohol in unless you asked them not to.:confused3

I didn't even know they had a Tangerine Daiquiri! Where did you get it from, the booth or in the Tangerine Cafe? I def need to try one of those! I love soem drinks around the world!!!

Hi Marcia - I read your entire trip report (thus far!). I have to say I would have been a little spooked riding ToT by myself. LOL It did make a pretty cool picture though. Thanks for sharing the Toy Story Mania details -- it looks really cool! It sounds like you had a great trip all around and all your pics are making me wish my trip was that much closer. :) Can't wait to read more!!

Great update!! Sorry to hear that they messed up that drink!! Can't wait to hear more...

Hey, Marsha! :thumbsup2
The pic of you and the Pluto from F&G Festival is awesome! All that work is just stunning, I'll have to make it at that time of year eventually to see it all in person. I have to agree with you on something -- Test Track really is so much more fun with other people! It seems every time I go to Disney and ride that, there's other families experiencing it for the first time and are just blown away by it! Can't wait for more....

Marsh are you going for free dining in August??

nope, we're going aug 13-20, before it starts. had to fit in one last trip, since my AP expires on the 20th!

it's from in the back, the counter that has the pastries, like inside Tangerine Cafe. it really has been good in the past!

Photopass Pictures!

Okay, so this isn't going to be an update chronologically, but I just got in my Photopass Pictures from my share, so I'd like to put some of them up. I have over 400 pictures after edits, but I will limit it here, otherwise, I'd bore you to death! :rotfl: I'll only do the ones up to the point I am in the report, and add the other ones in as I go with the report. So here are some of my favorites!

first picture, I'm here! Woo Hooo!
