Marching Band Question

one time at band camp...lol

okay in high school we always did something crazy right at the clock hit 6:09

In college we always did the taste great/ less filling thing with the other band. Oh yeah the go bananas cheer was a favorite because of the sexual innuendos. As a matter of fact most of our cheers had sexual innuendos..lol
Ya all that stuff would proabably be banned today..lol

Both my hs and college bands are pretty sad to watch now...they both went corp style..*BLECH*

When I was in band we would do the fight song, and we had different versions of it, a silent one, where we count off and wait for the cheerleaders to start dancing, then we just stop. yeah, we were mean. Then we have another one where we would play half way through, and stop (not to confuse the cheerleaders, just for a goal or something) then we had the full version.
We also played rockytop, Star spangled banner, and three others normally. I don't rememeber everything, its been a long time.

Seems like all marching bands teased their cheerleaders

There was this one cheer that the cheerleader did that went something like this...
The cheerleaders would pick like a section of the band and say...
Hey Tuba's...
Hey Tuba's...
lets see you get down...
lets see you get down...

at that point that section would do a dance or something

Well they would go through all the sections of the band then the cheerleaders would say that to the whole band.
Well this one time after they did it..we did this cheer right back to them with a slight twist..
The cheer went like this..

Band: Heeeeey Cheerleaders???
Cheerleaders: Hey whaaaaat?
Band: Heeeeey Cheeleaders???
Cheerleaders: Hey whaaaat???

Band: Lets see you SIT DOWN!
Band: Lets see you SIT DOWN!

We've been known to be mean to our cheerleaders too!

When I was in high school, everyone that wanted to cheer sat by the band and we did most of the cheering, the cheerleaders were always in front of the parents and everyone ignored them. The local high school here has great cheerleaders so pretty much everyone follows them. The pep band and the cheerleaders work together so that is even more fun.

The marching band is something totally different and they do play at some games, but mainly they do a field show at half time. Today is our town celebration parade and the debut of our new jr high marching band (DS13 is in it-trombone). I am so excited to see them. I have caught glimpses of them at the end of practice and they look really good. Their band director is amazing, probably the best music teacher I have ever seen! Band is HUGE in our town. There are 280 kids in the high school marching band alone-our of 860 kids in the whole high school! There are 100 kids in the jr high marching band, 7th and 8th grade only.
