Marching Band Booster fundraising ideas

In my area the Pizza Ranch restaurants have nights where groups can come in and bus tables for the evening and they get to keep any tips left on the tables. They also have a jar at the register for donations. It probably doesn't bring in too much but if you could set it up for say once a quarter it could add up.

It's been over 10 years since I was a Band Booster officer and 6-yr member. We had to raise over $4,000 annually and we had a concession stand and several sales-type fundraisers.

The best by far... seriously by leaps and bounds... was a Harlem Wizards fundraiser game. This is the team that plays the Harlem Globetrotters and the host school puts together a team for them to play (but no students). It took less than 2 dozen people to run it and we also had concessions and raffle-type baskets (but check your state laws on raffles). Their organization was top-notch and everything was spelled out perfectly. It also draws more than just band families. We formed our team with teachers and local favorites, calling our team "The Rimshots". (Get it... percussion and b'ball?!) I think we raised close to $2,000 with that one event. Cash on the spot. We live in a very rural area and they came to us, in our school gym.

The biggest job was advertising and getting the word out to all of the students in our corporation. I know it is a little strange to do a sports-type fundraiser but the pay-off was worth it.
