march trip!

March 2nd is my birthday, so I would say yes! That is the middle of the week and before spring break so it shouldn't be crowded. There will be shorter hours though and probably no fireworks. I think it would be a great time to go. Unfortunately I can't take those days off work so we will be there over the weekend instead.
Happy planning!

As Angrose said, those are a Wed and Thu, so the parks shouldn't be super busy. I agree that the operating hours are likely to be shorter and there probably won't be any fireworks or Mad T Party; WoC and PtN are likely to be nightly (still waiting to know about PtN for sure).

DLR doesn't really announce refurbishments that far in advance, so it's hard to say what will or will not be closed. We do know that the Rivers of America (Tom Sawyers Island, Mark Twain, Columbia, and Canoes), the Train, and F! will all be dark for most/all of next year. There are rumors floating around that Soarin' and Jungle Cruise will be undergoing lengthy refurbishments at some point. Ultimately, it's possible that any ride could be closed for refurbishment at that point and we probably won't have a good idea of what will be down at that point until much closer to the date (e.g., February).

It depends on what you mean by "bad"...there are pros and cons to any month/period in the year. There really isn't any one specific time of the year to go that is "best" because it depends on what you want to do, avoid, experience, etc.

We don't mind crowds but the more rides open the better. I was thinking that the middle of March may have more rides open due to spring break.

Basically we would like to know when is the best time to go in March. :) thank you so much for the help!

At this point, I'd say the first half of 2016 is going to be hard to predict in terms of closures and crowds. If Micechat is correct, there are a number of big refurbishments planned for 2016, but no one really know when they'll happen. If you scroll down about halfway through this article (paragraph above the Autopia sign photo), you'll see the list of attractions that may be closed for refurbishment at some point in 2016. All that being said, it's unlikely that they'll all close at the same time, but it's not unheard of to have more than one headliner down at a time.

In terms of March specifically, yes, I think the later into March you can go, the better chance you have of experiencing fewer closures and longer operating hours. Just note that the two weeks around Easter (week before and week after) are considered the peak of the Spring Break season, so crowds can be very high during those weeks. The Spring Break Season operating schedule is likely to start somewhere around mid-March and run through early-April.

This far out, it's hard to say whether any specific dates would be better than others. the 15th and 16th may be part of the Spring Break season or they may be just before it starts. If you can wait to decide, I would wait until we know more about what next year will be like.

Just a little worried that we will won't be able to ride pirates it the only ride we *have* to ride.

Sorry, but I don't have any sense of when the PotC closure might happen. The Miceage article was the first I'd read about. Miceage is like any Disney-fan site, it can be right and it can be wrong, so it's hard to say whether any one specific piece of information will come to be. The best that can be done is to keep an eye on as many sites as possible and see what kinds of refurbishments they have listed.

Okay, well thank you all so much for the help! I guess Google will be my bff for the next couple of weeks.

Just a note, but there might not much information released until after the holidays. DLR often holds refurbishment information until close to the last minute. So it's possible that we won't hear/know anything more for quite a while.

I'd keep an eye on what is posted here on the Disboards. Information tends to be posted pretty quickly, so this is a good spot. There is also a place on wdwinfo.com, the Disboard's parent site. You can also try things like Touring Plans, Miceage/Dateline Disney, Mouseplanet, etc. I don't think any one site is going to be better than the other and they all tend to report the same things ultimately.
