How is the time of year to sail??? We are contemplating a March 2003 cruise. Any input would be appreciated.

We did the 4-day cruise that departed on 3/10.

At port on the day of departure it was pretty chilly and windy. We had a few moderate showers (with moments of downpour) in Nassau and then truly wretched (drenching rain, cold) weather on the morning of debarkation.

But, for the most part, is was pretty nice. The weather was warm enough to wear shorts (and warm enough to swim), but not really hot. One would have been very comfortable in jeans or pants, but we were trying to get in every possible minute of shorts/beach attire. The sun was generally out and I enjoyed many nice moments reading on deck. Evenings were cooler and I always had a sweater on (but I tend to be cold a lot). Our day on Castaway Cay was pretty dank, chilly, and windy for a long time, but we eventually warmed up enough to take off our sweatshirts and go in the water. It was plenty nice/warm just walking around, etc. on Castaway Cay.

Seas didn't seem particularly rough (but it was my first cruise, so I don't have anything to compare it to). It didn't seem to be a stormy or rough time of year to travel.

Overall, if I had it to do over again, I'd probably prefer to go slightly later (our schedules made March the only possible choice) in the Spring/Summer in order to have slightly warmer weather, but it wasn't bad. We were also there during a major school break and it was PACKED, so I'd certainly prefer to avoid that again, if at all possible.

Ironically, we spent our debarkation day at WDW (before an evening flight) and despite the wretched start in the morning it was GORGEOUS. The sun was shining, the weather warm - lovely.
