March is it ever a good idea?

I have been browsing past and future crowded calendars and was wondering is there ever a situation where March isn't all high crowds? Or at least has a decent week somewhere in there?

I am assuming school breaks always fall in March which makes it not such a great time. Just wondering what other people's thoughts are on if March ever is a good time to head to WDW?

I teach, and our Spring Break coincides with Easter. So, it was in late March this year, but is often in April.

We went over Spring/Easter Break this year (arrived on Good Friday and stayed through the Wednesday after Easter), and it was great. Crowded? I guess. Didn't bother me.

I think a lot of Spring Breaks take place in April.

We've gone in March and, yes, it was crowded (this was two years ago). We've had spring breaks both in March and April (we've gone in April, too!). Our rule of thumb, go at RD and, if the crowds get to be too much, leave after lunch and enjoy the resort, go to a waterpark, DS, mini-golfing, etc.

Our breaks are usually March, but sometimes tied to Easter and may be April. This year, I was surprised at some of the threads here with people discussing their breaks well into April. Spring breaks really seem to span most of March through at least half of April. I don't think any of March is "low", but I'd start off by investigating the first week or so on a site like EasyWDW or Touring Plans to get a guess of historical and predicted crowds.

As someone else said, school breaks vary quite a bit and are scattered all throughout March and April. March can be busy, but if it's the time that's convenient for your family, I say do it! Disney is honestly very busy most times of the year. With ADRs and FP+, however, it's possible to avoid some of the waiting even if the park is packed. I've been to WDW all times of the year and the only time that felt noticeably slower with fewer people in the park was January... but there were long lines for popular rides even then.

The 1st week of March would probably be the least crowded. College spring breaks are usually in mid-late March and Mardi Gras falls in there somewhere. We went March 17-18 this year (tied to a Universal trip). It was a madhouse at the MK on Friday.

I have gone in early march and didn't think the crowds were that bad.

The first week in March is the best week, with low-moderate crowds. Spring break officially starts the second week, with a big increase in crowds, but the first week is one of our favorite times to go.

My last full WDW vacation was the first week of March 2013, extending into the beginning of the second week. The first week had low to moderate crowds, but soon as the weekend hit, it seems crowds doubled. Disney hotel rates increased too, which was a major clue.

Until we fell in love with Food&Wine the first week in March was 'ours' since my school was off then, most other schools break closer to Easter or actually Easter week. Early March is a great time to go, crowds I'd call 'moderate, and the weather fine, mid 70s to 80 usual daily highs with rare exceptions, third lowest rainfall in Orlando. Great to look forward to this WDW trip while suffering a Norhtern Winter.

We hit a cold spell the first few days there in March 2013. I don't think it got warmer than the low 50s, with nights in the 40s. They even closed the one open water park for a few days due to the weather. So I guess it was one of those rare exceptions, but it IS possible. Then it got warm, low to mid 70s for the rest of the trip.

We always go in March usually the first couple of weeks. We might go to parks for a day and hit three in a day. The crowds haven't been an issue. The weather is generally good and there is spring training baseball. So it's a win win

We were there this year the week before spring break. We went to Epcot and MK on days that were considered "10s" by Touring Plans after they reviewed the crowds for that week. Honestly, it didn't bother us at all. We got to each park a little after rope drop each day and were done with everything we wanted to do and more by 6 or so each evening. Yes, there were a lot of people, but it really did not affect our visit.

+1. I was there during the first week of March, and for the most part, the crowds weren't bad. It was more crowded in MK than the other parks, though.

We are considering early March too, BUT we are afraid of the dreaded BTG's or the 15's. On your many travels, have you had to deal with these groups in March? Thanks so much PSUguy!
