Ok so this is the first time we are trying going in march during what is deemed as spring break by Disney standards. I am in awe at all that will not be in full operation or availability when we go and paying the same as summer season prices. These are just a few.
1. No splash mountain
2. decreased monorail operation
3. No magic kingdom day parade
4. No Animal kingdom day parade
5. no Lion King show

Don't go in March if it bothers you so much.

Disney has always done their big maintenance in the winter.:confused3 How do you think they keep the place looking so spiffy? It's not like they haven't given fair warning of what maintenance is being done, nor is it really enough to impact park experience.

We're going in March with dear relations - I guess we'll just have to go back to get a photo of all of us on Splash Mountain.

Oh Darn!

I'm going in March and while there will be a few things down it won't make my trip a waste. Flower and Garden Festival will be going on then, crowds will be lower and I will be having a Dole Whip. Just those three things will make my trip fantastic :).

1. No splash mountain Would have to look, but I think that's about the same every year?
2. decreased monorail operationThink just bad timing on that, as far as the year goes maybe? Seems like it's just time to do some maintenance? Better decreased operation as opposed to no operation, or a massive failure while your family was on the monorail due to something not taken care of because of said maintenance?
3. No magic kingdom day parade Kind of a bummer, but there are still shows and other encounters you can do during that time of waiting for the parade?
4. No Animal kingdom day parade This will be unpopular to many, but thank goodness IMO.
5. no Lion King showagain, just bad timing on your trip, new construction, old demolition, cant just make a building and plop it down overnght.

If those are the only times you can go as a family, you will just have to go and deal with it, or try again when things are back up. But I've seen people do it before, if you go in with a sour taste, teeny tiny things will likely 'ruin' your trip even more. Hopefully you continue with your trip, enjoy spending time with family, make some good memories, and not focus on what's missing, be excited for what's there!

1. Splash is down every year from January into March for maintenance. It has loads of animatronics and needs it. There are lots of people who travel to Disney every winter and never get to go on splash. It's not just this March, it's every March.

2. Resort and MK Express monorail will still be operational during the busiest periods of the day, it's just the middle of the afternoon that is affected.

3. When in March are you going? The start date for the new MK parade is mid-March.

4. Hadn't heard about a Jammin Jungle refurb

5. FotLK is down for six months, half of Disney's visitors this year will not get to see this show.

I know it seems like a lot is down during your time, but there is still so much to see and do at Disney that it will hardly be noticeable while you're there. :goodvibes

4. No Animal kingdom day parade

You "may" be thinking abour Mickey's Jingle Jungle parade-the Holiday parade.:)

Mickey's Jammin' Jungle parade is the regular parade and I have seen NO info it will be discontinued or of an impending refurb.:)

I share this FANTASTIC attitude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cloud9:

Thanks for the information. I did not know this and I think it is very helpful to have this kind of knowledge when trying to choose and time to go. People as so quick to be rude, but I thank you. I am always trying to figure out the best time to go!

I can totally sympathize with you. It is discouraging to find out about closures/rehabs/maintenance etc... Most of us book trips pretty far in advance and are not able to just go another time as some previous posters suggested. You will still have a great time and it definitely means you will have to try to make it back soon to enjoy some of those attractions.

I know it can be really frustrating to look at the refurb list/ schedule and see things that are closed. But try and keep it in perspective. You have listed a few things when there is really hundreds of things to do at the parks.

Yes Splash Mountain will be closed, but it closes every year between Jan and Mar.

Yes the monorail will have limited service, but there will be extra buses in place of the monorail. After that big accident a few years back I am sure they are being extra diligent about maintenance on it.

The parade. I'm not a big fan of parades, because they crowd the streets and are kind of cheesy in my opinion, but that's me. There are still other shows and the night parade that can be enjoyed.

And then there is Animal Kingdom- AK is going through some big changes that will effect it for months to come if not a year. Whether it is for the better or worse, it kind of is what it is.

Instead of focusing on what you can't do, focus on what you can. Enjoy your trip and have a blast and don't worry so much about the few things you can't do.

I think it's about what's important to you, so it can be disappointment when stuff is closed. My kids were so upset when we went and the Muppets movie was closed for refurbishment. Not exactly a headliner, but something we enjoy doing.

We were there in October and they were doing reduced monorail operations (only running during peak times). It only impacted us once. We stayed on property and took the busses direct to our park of choice. Only time it was an issue was for dinner reservation at mom rail resort. Took boat instead. Not a big deal for us.

Add to the March closures list:

People Mover (2/10-3/27)
Pinocchio's Village Haus (2/17-3/30)
The Plaza (2/17-3/15)

OP, I'm going in March, too, and I was also disappointed at the closures extending into such a busy and expensive time of year. I'm surprised that the second week of March (when we're going) will have two restaurants in MK closed -- that's typically the second-busiest week of Spring Break.

I'm not sure what you mean by "winter." :confused3 March isn't winter by Disney standards (except for the first week). Peak season pricing starts March 7, with the second-highest rates of the year -- higher than even Thanksgiving. Spring Break crowds will descend the second week, with crowd levels equivalent to summer. OP's point -- that they're paying peak prices with multiple closures -- is a valid one.

This is not too bad, it still may be cooler in March and Splash may be chilly. I go in August and have had many refurbs it's disappointing but there is so much to do there and many other shows you can experience that you may not have encountered before. Enjoy!

Now Darn I hadnt thought of that…. :worship: Sarcasm…input…WEll whats done is done and money and points are spent so I guess it will have to be ok.. dont mean I have to agree with it

Dont get me wrong it wont ruin my trip but would be nice for not so much to be impacted at one time. Even the boat from SSR to DTD is limited and the 3 FP per day limit too as before just seems like a lot at one time. Should be discounted which maybe it is... now that Im thinking about it as we are DVC and I am not on the cash resort side of things. Which makes sense for all the discounts if thats the case.

Yes Splash Mountain will be closed, but it closes every year between Jan and Mar.

Mouseplant's Walt Disney World update from February 7, 2011 indicates that it re-opened from refurbishment at the beginning of February, 2011. Mouseplanet's late 2011 and early 2012 updates show no record that Splash went down for any lengthy refurbishment in early 2012, and that Splash was open for "One Disney Day" on Feb 29, 2012, so I don't think it went down for a lengthy refurbishment in early 2012.

I also rode Splash that March, so I know it was open.

thanks..That was the main reason for booking in March cooler temps and we have done everything at least 2 x so yes there are many other shows and things to do I just think its the first time we have experienced many things being down as we usually go in the summer months, while very hot we get to do and experience it all
