we have a AoA lion king suite booked for march 11-17th 2018. we have 7 day park passes and deluxe dining as well.

what are the odds of a discount code or reducing our out of pocket cost?

we would even be ok with same price if we got to stay at a nicer resort. I'm just not sure how often these deals become available. Our current quoted price is $8375

If you google "disney march discounts" you'll find a site that lists the history of discounts offered.

go look at mousesavers - March is a month that has discounts in the past - but never count on them. spring breaks starts in late Feb and goes to late April.

If you need a suite type hotel, you probably won't find a better price unless you go to a 1BR at a DVC but those dates are the highest prices so kind of unlikely.

How many adults and children are in your party? What type of room do you need?

In the past March has had discounts so it's possible. You say the price would be okay if it were a nicer resort. Not sure what you consider "nicer" as opinions would vary on that. However have you considered 2 rooms at one of the mods? That would probably be about the same price. If I were going with 5 adults I'd rather stay at one of the mods over AoA. You could even do 2 rooms at one of the values and save some money.

we have 5 adults going. ages 64-19. we are open to room type just want to be comfortable and in decent beds. also does anyone know what kind of blankets are in the AoA lion king suite rooms? we are that family that likes to sleep in the cold and bundle up. just wondering if we should bring our own blankets with us.

I guess what I mean by "nicer" is something higher up than AoA. I am so excited for the theme (lion king) and I'm sure we will love it, that said if the opportunity came up to stay somewhere a little more adult for the same or cheaper then we would defiantly go with that.

If you don't need a suite, you can go to a mod for probably less than you're paying now. A studio at OKW or Saratoga would also probably be less and you'd still get a fridge, microwave, toaster and coffee pot. All are more adult.

I'm sorry I don't know what OKW is. The only room I could kind at Saratoga was $990 a night? Is that correct?

OKW = Old Key West[/QU

How many people are in your party? If there are 6 of you, then you are limited to a 2 bedroom, which is probably what you got pricing for. If you can give us more info on your party, ages, etc. we can probably help you.

I'm sorry it is 5 of us. All adults. Ages 64-19

Thanks. Then your options for spreading out are fewer, but you can try a1 bedroom at OKW - that fits 5, 2 on the King Bed, 2 on the Queen Sofabed and 1 on the Chair Bed. Full washer/dryer, full kitchen and beautiful landscaping! A boat to Disney Springs and a terrific pool area.

A cabin at Fort Wilderness would also fit all of you, but it is much more "remote" and not deluxe at all.

Otherwise, you can probably consider a room with a day bed at a Deluxe, but you will be much "closer" than you may want lol.

Would 2 rooms at a mod be cheaper than suite at AoA?

Just asking not judging - if you are looking to reduce cost why select the deluxe dining plan? Since there isn't a TS at the resort you will need to go away from the resort to use all your TS credits unless you are planning on a lot of 2 credit meals.

We have several 2 credit dinners planned. We are a foodie family and love the idea of trying new things. Also don't want to have to worry about how much money to set aside to eat. Picked that also for the convenience.

It's possible to use a Deluxe credit at a QS restaurant. It's not an especially good use of the credit (unless lots of other meals are very pricey), but it's definitely possible to do it.

Would 2 rooms at a mod be cheaper than suite at AoA?

Probably not, plus a suite at AoA has more "social" areas with 5 adults, it will be nice to have hangout space, rather than sitting on beds. With Deluxe Dining, are you planning on meals at Disney Springs? Staying at a resort with a boat to DS is really convenient, so POR could be a nice option but a little more expensive.

A cabin would be cheaper and would fit all of you with a discount. Depending on discounts available, a 1 BR at OKW or Saratoga could be comparable too and also has the boat to Disney Springs.

We had the regular Dining Plan on our last trip, it was free lol. We couldn't eat that many meals a day and it was only 2 plus snacks. We literally traded in 12 meal entitlements for snack credits. You will potentially be spending more time per day at meals vs. theme parks. But if that's what you like, then enjoy!

Maybe you could cut back on theme park tickets to save a little. If you have hoppers, you may find you don't have enough park time to justify them, other than hopping to Epcot for meals I guess.

Anyway here's my "analysis":
1. Discounts last year were 15% for Value, 20% for mods, 25% for deluxe and deluxe villas. Look at your dates and price a room only for your dates. Take off the discount amount to get a rough idea of your room cost for each option.
2. Annual pass discounts last year were higher, 25%, 30%, 35% so even better deal IF you can find availability, a 1BR at a DVC property would probably cost around the same as what you're paying now for a AoA suite.

Examples: Rack Discount AP
AoA $427 $363 $341
POR (2rms) $688 $550 $516
Cabin $431 $345 $323
OKW (1BR) $607 $455 $394
BW (studio) $573 $430 $372
The Boardwalk studio says sleeps five adults - it's a wonderful place to stay to have access to Epcot restaurants, plus Yacht/Beach Club and Boardwalk restaurants.

3. Dining and ticket prices are the same no matter where you stay.

So, I would suggest booking a discount room when March Discounts come out and then keep an eye on here for AP discount release. We are doing the same. If we can get a good AP discount, we will buy ONE AP. With that one AP we can get:
a. Free Memory Maker
b. Restaurant discounts
c. Shopping discount

Anyway, I had time at work so I mused on this for you lol. It does get confusing but hopefully I gave you a little insight as to how many options you really have. Think about what you're going to be doing every day then decide what resort gives you the best option for comfort, close to your activities and parks you plan to visit most, and if you need "space". Honestly, the AoA suites look cramped to me, I would always choose the All-Star Music suite over AoA for room itself. It has a huge living room, vs. the smaller living and dining rooms. Two full closets vs. the little locker area, and a separate kitchenette vs. having it in the living room too.

Have a great trip. We'll be there 13-20 so who knows, maybe we'll run in to each other!
